My bike was just serviced and runs great, I was thinking about changing my muffler, do I have to get the ecm reset or it will adapt itself the new muffler and what to do about the exhaust valve since the new muffler don't have one. The bike is a 06 Lighting 12S. Thanks......

I put mine on about 400 miles before the 1k service and saw no ill effect. I had then do a TPS reset just to make sure. It is suggested that after putting it on to warm up the engine good then cruise steady state (2-3k rpm) for a few mile so the closed loop mode can adjust.
You can do 1 of 2 things about the valve. You can just tie up the muffler end of the cable so the servo still does its thing. Make sure the end of the cable isn't going to rub anything and the cable housing is not kinked. Or you can remove the cable and servo completely and purchase a servo emulator to plug in where the servo was. This will keep your check engine light from coming on.

His n' hers is right, closed loop does the trick, TPS reset or not.

TPS reset is only required when swapping ECM's or at service intervals (well, and problem diagnosis).

I've removed the cable and left the servo in place and had no CE lights.

The soonest it's done I 'll post a picture. I have a Yoshimura pipe from a Hayabusa that went down pretty hard about 300 miles after swapping the mufflers and it was totaled, however, one side of the bike stay in good shape, so I'm using that, some stainless tubing, some cutting, welding and fab work I'm almost finish.

Exhaust Valve Servo Error can easily be turned off using ECMSpy or by fitting a race ECM.

or buy that thing from American Sport Bike that tricks the computer. the race ecm might be a good idea tho
