When I bought this M2, I didn't really understand it and tried to lug it like a Sporty. After a few rides, I understood that here was a V-Twin that you could rev a bit without shaking your teeth out. I came to appreciate the smoothness, especially in 5th gear above 60 mph. That "sweet spot" was a joy, Higher speeds were just as good. 65 to 75 was a great range to ride but below 60 was a bit harsh. Over the next 10k, I began to feel a bit of harshness creep in, so that the "sweet spot" seemed to shrink to 65 mph and up. I decided to replace the isolators on the nine year old bike I just replaced all 3 isolators and a new belt. Consequently, the "sweet spot" has been extended below 60 mph. All 3 isolators looked perfectly functional when they came out. The front looked the roughest, but some of that was paint. I at first just did the two rear parts. The front iso I ordered was the wrong part. After that installation, the bike felt better, but a bit buzzy. I was disappointed. After I received the correct front Iso, I took advantage of a rainy day to install it. The addition of the front isolator seems to be the difference. I am happy. |

i had a vibration that was driving me nuts on my v-rod...the factory couldnt help me, cause they all do that... i replaced the isolators, aligned the motor and the vibration went away.... |

Yup, me too. Just did a chilly 70 miles. The bar end rear view mirror barely tingles. |

Those front isolators are weird. They can fail but look fine. Look at the junction of the steel and the rubber for any separation. When mine failed, each time they looked "fine" even when they were out of the bike in my hand. The only fault I could detect was in tiny separation of the metal backing plate. |

How many miles did you M2 have on it when you did the work? On my S3 my understanding is I need to spread the frame -- was this the case on your M2 as well? |

22k, but '99 bike, so I thought the rubber would be too old. Plus, I am 285 [or more] I used the Kaster frame spreader...maybe 1/8"? |
