Instead of Harden the F*&k Up. Here is another definition that is appropriate from a motorcycling standpoint. 2. HTFU "Hang the F*&k Up!" the cell phone correct version (especially appropriate for vehicular maladiction) of the well-established STFU. "HTFU and DRIVE!" Ted shouted at the smugly self-absorbed yuppie soccer mom who was toddling along the freeway at 40mph in a van filled with children while simultaneously sipping her non-fat-non-dairy-decaf frap and babbling away on her cell phone oblivious to the furious world raging around her. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=htf u (Message edited by krassh on March 15, 2008) |

I've always wanted to know, but was afraid to ask, what 'htfu' meant. Thank you for clearing that up. |

or in other words wear headphones. just the idea of going to jail not to mention running across the likes of someone like that has always deterred me from doing really stupid stuff. one reason why i don't own a gun cause i know i would use it and not give it a second thought. |

We had 6 kids ( teens ) die in a car while the driver may have been texting. Much ado. It's against the law in NY state to talk on a cell w/out a hands free device. Silly. It's not the manipulation of a microphone ( remember CB radio ? ) or cell phone that kills, it's the distraction. Texting takes even more of the brain. The percentage of concentration needed to drive is less ( but not zero ) as experience gives you conditioned responses. That's why the 40 year old lady is probably safer on a cell phone than the 17 year old. Still a danger. I happily listen to music in a car or on my Cyclone, but I'm aware of the risks that I may lose track of something because of that. There is a Small, but real risk that The Beatles may distract me enough to die. I judge that for ME getting highway hypnosis on the xpress-way while droning home late at night in a state of sensory deprivation & overload ( loud, dark, and myopic ) is a greater risk. Besides, "Paperback Writer" is a great spice to the riding experience. The cell can wait till I stop. ( or till I buy a bluetooth rig for a helmet ) |
