Looking at selling my '03 954 and getting an xB.. and I'm kinda liking several of the features of the TT model alot.. i.e. the longer suspension travel, the arctic white panels, the number plates that I can play around with from time to time if I want to just ride solo.. and the black subframe as opposed to silver.. etc

But.. I would still want to remove the headlight bars, get a set of passenger footpegs, and get a regular S or Scg (more than likely S) seat.

The other way would be to buy an S model and get the arctic white panels and number plates..

Basically.. my question is.. is the TT's suspension angle and travel really *worth* it to go the first way, or should I not waste my money and just get the S?

This will be a primary roadbike that I would really love to take out on the track sometime when I get tired of my other race bike : )

Looking for something comfortable on longer trips, can get luggage for, comfortable for passengers, but can still cut through some good corners in the mountains.

You cant put a regular S or scg seat on a TT. The TT and SS seats are interchangeable.

This is my hybrid of a XB12SS and STT. The 2 bikes are nearly identical to start with, so all the parts will swap no problem. I am slowly turning it into the STT. I can't give too much info about it yet, as I haven't gotten much seat time on it.

Are the side rails on the TT the same as the City X? I want the black rails for my XB9SX

Not 100% sure, but i doubt it. The STT/SS use a different tail section than the rest of the S series.

Nice.. that answered my conversion questions.. as it looks like the SS new seems to be roughly $200 more than the TT new.. $300 to have the ability to swap is actually a pretty decent deal imho.


And thx for the clarification on the S vs the SS.. wasn't sure.. hitting up a dealer this weekend to go check them out in person

The SS and TT share the same seat rails. The cityX and regular S models share the same seat rails, but the cityX rails are black.
My advise, is to get the regular S model and buy a CityX seat. They're comfortable, and you said you will be doing on road riding, so the extra suspension travel would go to waste. I know, I know the TT is AWESOME, but if it can save you a couple $$ by getting a S do it.

are you riding that bike off road? You will want that extra clearance if you are. Maybe its just the way I ride them ;) Cant let the ULY gang have all the dirty fun.

..dirt is a high possibility : ) watched a youtube review of the STT with a guy going through all sorts of terrain and all I could say was "daddy wants one!"

Hey! If you're up for a long first ride, the local dealership up here in Columbus has a new 07 TT and a new 07 S for around $7600.

The TT has the 2-up (SS) conversion, and cherry bomb plastics.

You will want the TT then for several reasons. The taller ground clearance, the rock hand guards, and the more aggressive Scorps for tires. The SS has a more street profile tire. The cost of converting an SS makes it moot as you are over the cost of a TT. Do your homework, there are several shops out there that have TT's that have been converted to the full rider seat with passenger pegs. Ours is ready for the fly and ride program if you want to come out west ;)
