I was out for a quick ride today and noticed this space on this bolt, on the steering head
is it supposed to like that or flush? Is it something to worry about? |

No! (It's supposed to look a lot more dirty then that, and be in focus ) Just kidding. Thats exactly what they look like. There is a big bow tie shaped rubber isolator wedged into that isolator bore, and the bolt floats inside that. (Message edited by reepicheep on January 11, 2008) |

If you take it off (which I would not recommend unless you have to rotate the engine for some reason) and look at it, it makes a lot more sense. |

Take a look at this. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/384 2/191294.html?1159487567 It looks like the rubber has broke loose but can not see from your photo. Look at the upper side and compare to the photos in the link posted. |

If the aluminum part of the bracket is resting on the large head of the bolt, then the isolator has failed. |

Jaydub, That there is a good front isolator. It is strange looking for sure. |
