The IRS is picking up speed. I filed my taxes online with H&R Block, and I got my state and federal back in exactly 7 days.

I used TAX ACT ONLINE for the last couple of years and always score way better than I did the one year I used H&R Ripoff. It's easy too, I'm mathematically retarded. It was all fill in the blanks and viola, Fed & state return in my bank account within 2 weeks and all for less than $20. They even provided a complete filled in FAFSA worksheet to score my kid some free federal tuition.

Well, I have had a wireless setup for about 2 years now, and it has worked pretty much flawlessly.
I have had 2 instances in the past where the wireless laptop has lost connection to the internet, and I have had to reset the router to defaults, then re-do all the settings, and that was that.

However, I have lost connection again and have been unsuccessful at reparing it.

My setup is this (where "-->" are hard wired connections):
Cable modem --> Wireless Router --> PC
My laptop is wirelessly connected.
The wireless router is using the PC's mac address, as required by the ISP.

When setting up the router, I can see my laptop's mac, and add it with no problem. The laptop will connect to the wireless router, and automatically get its IP, gateway, and all that. Everything looks normal. The laptop is getting DHCP from the router.
My PC has no problems getting out on the internet, but the Laptop will not.

I can ping the router with the laptop, but cannot connect to the router using http.
I can also connect to ftp.microsoft.com, but again, no http.

I have tried to set the laptop up using a static IP, with no positive results.

I also don't see anywhere in the router settings to enable/disable htp (which is what I am assuming the problem might be, but I could be wrong).
I also checked to make sure that the PC and laptop had different IP addresses, and they do, since they are auto-assigned by the router.

I spent forever last night trying to fix this, to no avail.

I even upgraded the firmware on the router to see if that might help, but nada.

Sounds like it's the laptop not the router.
What OS are you running?

Have you set a restore point you can go back to? Like one you had when everything was working right.
If that works/doesn't work, it might eliminate router vs. laptop.
What kind of router do you have?

Russ, I'm with Glitch. It sounds like a problem on the laptop. Try disabling any software firewalls running on your PC. I think I've also fixed problems in the past by disabling the "QoS Packet Scheduler" in your wireless card's connection properties

I put a ">" in front of my quotes, too. That way people can tell what you're quoting in the email copy. It's just part of badweb's charm. We put up a regular bulletin board for the 3%ers once, but no one used it. It's kind of nice to just have one conversation that never ends.

this may sounds stupid russ, but have you been using the computer at work? if so do you have to go through a proxy server at work? or have you made any changes to your Browser (IE or Firefox, ETC)?
Have you tried restarting the laptop? Can you connect through the Network cable on the laptop with network card enabled?
Just a couple of random questions....
