So my kids (Twin 7 year olds) bought a helmet for daddy as a fathers day gift! It's a great gift and I love riding with them, but I don't ride in just a helmet, and I don't think they should either. Anyone have suggestions on youth gear? With as fast as they are growing, I don't see dropping hundreds of bucks on gear that only lasts a season, and I'd like to use the same gear for both of them. I'm considering a MX chest/back and arm protector that I can throw a denim jacket or hoodie over, and obviously gloves. Any suggestions? |

I would try the "pay it forward" section of the BRAN message board. It is a place for the exchange of gear. The donors only ask that you help another Bueller in turn if you can down the road, and possibly postage. Failing that, cycle gear, newenough.com and craigslist are all good places to find it. Everyone with kids knows how fast they outgrow this stuff! |

Youth gear is HARD to find. I've got my 6 year old outfitted quite well however. He has a fully armored mesh jacket from a company called nexgen(sorry, I've yet to find ANYTHING on them on the internet). He has Fulmer J4 youth helmet, which has a true youth sized shell, and fits VERY well. With a tinted visor even He also has a BMW Youth 3/4 jacket for colder days(under 60F). Which has a zippered expansion sections in the arms. The jacket we got off Ebay for $125. Retail they are $270 from the dealers. Add some MX gloves, and over the ankle boots and he's pretty well equipped. Both jackets have a full compliment of armor(Back, shoulder, and elbows). Here he is sporting his new jacket at the IMS show in Chicago where we got it. The company we bought it from had no idea where to get more of them however. Here he is in his BMW Jacket.

My little speed bump just turned 10 and has out grown her jacket. I gave her last one to another bad webber for his little girl. It wasn't armored but it was some protection. I am still using a pair of gloves that Diablobrian gave me. If you give me their sizes, I will look for the jacket that she just grew out of. Pay it forward is what being a Bueller is all about. |

I'll ask my wife what she did with it when I get home tonight. It should fit one of yours. |

I know its expensive but BMW makes youth jackets. I bought a Belstaff (BMG) small jacket for my son and motocross armor for him to put on under the jacket. I found that my son despite having a head the size of a TV set, his little neck has trouble keeping his AGV helmet still so one of those motocross neck rings has helped alot with his neck fatigue. |

Any other suggestions for gear that BMW jacket looks nice, price is out of this world. My daughter is 10 also and rides with me often, and at this point she is wearing denim. |

Cortech 2008 model lineups had a Youth "jett" jacket. But they don't seem to list them any longer. |
