Well, after 6k out of a set of D208s it's time for a change. A) to something with tread, LOL, and b) to something that doesn't SUCK in the rain. Ordered a set of Michelin Pilot Road2s, we'll see how they do for sport-tour duty. They were a bit salty, right around $300/set, but pricing seems pretty consistent from site to site that I've been able to find so I'm not stressed about "did I get a good deal". I'm just hoping they wear longer than the D208s (I can't see how they wouldn't), and that they do better in the rain and less-than-ideal road conditions. Hey Rat, congrats on a good purchase, it was a good deal. Myself I like the Battlax BT014 dual compound for the mileage, not sure about the wet though. I sell them at 160out back and 120up front but I buy them 10 sets at a time so I get a better price to pass on. I'd still stay away from the Metz, big $ and short miles! | ||

Rat, they s/ be an improvement over the Dunlops. Personally, I have the Pirelli Scorpions, OE on the current Buells. I suggest bumping up to the 180 on the rear. | ||

I believe the new Road 2's are a dual compound, they did well when reviewed by Sport Rider, seems like they didn't get to try them in the rain, but they will definitely be better multi condition tires than the Dunlops. Looking forward to hearing how they ride on a Buell, let us know! | ||

I run a 180 on the back anyway, much to the dismay of many board members here... I'll definitely keep the group posted as to how they do. I thought about the Pirellis, but I have an S1W for corner carving, I really do more sport-touring on the S2 and the dual compound appeals to me. I may go CorsaIII on the S1W when it needs shoes. | ||

All that IS true but the dollar numbers are better on the battlax...that's all I'm say'n. Sometimes it's about miles for dollars, especially when you'r riding to and from work or whatever. | ||

Every day for me. Bike = transportation, not toy Granted, I have three...so at least one (the S1W) could technically be labelled "toy"...but I hate cages! Although...I do keep cages as toys. Damn. I'm ass-backwards. Whatever it is, I'm sure I'll do better than the 208s in the $/mile factor. And this is my first set of non-Dunlops...ever. 99 M2, 98 S1W, 96 FLHP, and the 95 S2 have all worn OEM tires. If the Miche's don't work out...I'll try something new I've ridden friends bikes with Metzelers and didn't like the way they handled, and have heard too many customers complain about short lifespans too, so I avoided them. The way I look at it, tires are cheaper than hospital bills. Even if I decide a week in that they suck and I have to change them again | ||

I just shod my beastie with a pair of Pirelli Diablo Stradas, I only have about 30 miles on them, but from what I can tell, they're just as sticky as my old Dunlops, and they're supposed to be good for the long haul. We'll see, but the bike seems to handle slightly better, and has more of a solid feel to it. | ||

I ran Conti's Road Attack's last year and had them on out at both track days, they've been a pretty good tire. A lot better than the D205's I ran for the first few years of ownership. If these things ever wear out I'll be trying Avon's or the new Road 2's, depending on the feedback and reviews by those riding on them. |
