Hi Guys I forgot to add, I have just read that the fairing on my XB12R is plastic not painted and that it is coloured right the way through. Is this true? My question is then, if I attempt to polish out some scuff marks I won't reach a primer layer if I rub a little to much? The reason I ask is that there are some small black areas (like stonechips) around a couple of scatches which I thought was the primer showing underneath. Thanks for your replies. Regards Tobycat1 |

You're correct. The bodywork on the XB's are molded in color; not painted from the factory. I don't know why you have those black stone chips. The only things I can think of right off hand is either those are tar specs or bug guts, or some previous owner repainted it. Take some household alcohol and put it on a soft rag and try to rub it out. If it comes off, it was probably tar or bugs. If the black spots gets bigger, time for a new paint job. Good luck to you. I hope its just tar. |
