Anybody else watching the lunar eclipse? It's almost fully eclipsed now, 9:30 EST.

Woo hoo! Good astronomical stuff!!

It's about done being red. Pretty quickly now the Earth will move out of the way and let the Sun light up the "left" side.

Interesting illusion how small the moon looks when it's eclipsed (dim) compared to the full moon brightness.

Here's what I got with my point and shoot in Sacramento.
Hex
Edit: My mom reminded me that the little "star" is actually the planet Saturn. Just imagine Sun, Earth, Moon, and Saturn all in a line.

I just checked it out. Pretty cool! Sky is crystal clear here in MN. The only problem is it's also -3!

Not as good as Spidey's, but here's two during the final part:

2009PST

and

2019PST

but not bad with a Canon S1-IS (3.2MP)
The Seattle clouds eventually won the battle and shut out the full moon. Rats!

Clouds over LA finally cleared enough to get not only a good view of the orange lunar eclipse but also the triangle formed by Saturn to the left and the faint bluish star Regulus above the moon. Very cool!

The girlfriend is a dispatcher for the Highway Patrol and all the whackos come out. She doesn't even like me on the bike during a full moon. I guess it was even worse with the eclipse during a full moon. Her station had it's hands full

Interesting. I took some pics with my 2 Kodaks, one is a 10megapixel, the other a 5. I haven't looked at them on anything other than the camera screen yet. Hope they turned out as good.
