Section called Instrument Cluster Configuration, starts on page 51 of your owners manual. Service Odo Reset is on page 54. | ||

Or you could do like the dealership did with mine, after I serviced myself, and just unplug the battery since they still didn't have any literature at that time. | ||

How did you get to a first service without an owners' manual? Contrary to wives tales and excepting the one or two VERY rare instances, the owners' manual packet ships with EVERY motorcycle in the crate. You should have received it when you got your keys. And, it's on buell.com in the owners section, ready to download. Anything having to do with ride and use will be in the owners manual. Shop manuals contain take-it-apart information. Basic maintenance charts, intervals, settings and the like are always in the owners manual. When in doubt, put the book under your passenger seat when you take it in for service and tell them it's there. If the dealer truly doesn't have any literature, at least yours will be attached to the bike. | ||

Rat I offered my manual to "the other shop" They said that "they didn't need it". I told them there's no service manual yet are you sure? They said again they didn't need it. I did make sure I told them how to check the oil and to only put four quarts in it. I'm sure that didn't get back to the mechanic that was doing to the work. I was back the next day to get some oil drained out. I was lucky I guess to have one at all. I got mine two weeks before the first service. | ||

i have an owners manual, just havent touched it...EVER. haha it was given to my dad when i got the bike so he could put it in his truck and ive just never opened it | ||

I guess I'm just a dork then. Any time I get something new that I like a lot, I read the manual cover to cover over a beer. Or three, depending on how long the book is. Cars...sometimes, depends a lot on features (the nav system in the wife's Magnum definitely got my attention..and who knew a car with a gas motor came with a factory block heater?). Bikes...definitely. Guess there's just more passion there. Garrett2 - take a read when you get a chance. Not only will you find the useful stuff like setting the suspension up right for your weight and riding style...you'll find all sorts of COOL stuff the ODIS / instrument cluster can do for you. Bearly - I have the shop manual (2/14/08 draft) printed out and sitting in my office. The "other" Joe (tech) knows it's here if needed  | ||

Bearly, see the oil thread.. the bike does not hold 4 quarts. (edit) That statement I made is incorrect, it will hold 4.. but the fill level is not correct with 4 quarts in the engine. (Message edited by wahoo on February 22, 2008) | ||

I have traded most my bikes with the owners manual still unopened, If I remember they look like a legal document telling you will die, for sure, you have been warned. As we have seen recently with Oil Checking procedures can get complicated. | ||

Rat , my bike was a trade in from another dealer(can you believe that) and they forgot to send the manual. A week later I finally got to learn about the bike. Oh well I still got it before Christmas and had a toy to play with. |
