I just did a top end on one of my cylinders (i know i should have done the front one too but i didnt plan on doing a top end on the back one when all this went down). Anyways.. Now there is a decent amount of white smoke coming out the exhaust although the oil level is not going down and the bike is leaking way less oil on the driveway than it has in the past. I put a little oil around the gaskets when i put them on (i probably shouldn't have but i was convinced by a friend who rebuilds engines all the time) and i figured that was burning off real slowly. I have put about 80 miles on it though and its running smoother than ever but still smoking. Any suggestions as to whats going on? |

My first guess is that the rings haven't seated yet, from the rebuild. A quick look at the plugs should tell which cyl is involved, and if that cyl is really burning any significant amount of oil. Perhaps a leak-down test if it hasn't cleared up in 200 miles or so? |

http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm Break it in right...not like the manual reads. Works for me on every motor I have had. |
