I need to remove some exhaust studs on heads that have that black wrinkle paint, which I hear is a powder coat. I will use a propane torch. Does anyone know how much heat that paint can take? I do have a little infrared temperature gun, so I guess I could get an idea of how hot the surface is getting as I'm heating it up. I have searched and haven't found the number for Harley, but I read it is between 500 and 1000 degrees or more. I guess if I just keep the flame moving around the whole area, I should be able to heat it up quite a bit? Do I need to worry about it much? Thanks |
