Be prepared noob questions! I have been reading the post here about the race ECM with stage I intake and exhaust. Reading that this is the easiest way to go. Would like to do something like ECMSpy or Directlink but do to time constraints that needs to wait until later as learning the timing and fuel tables would take some time. I have read that the TPS needs to be reset. How much $$$ am I looking at to have a dealer do this? Would be the first time a dealer has ever touched a bike of mine. How challenging is it to do TPS Reset with ECMSpy? Anyone making the cables for ECMSpy? I also read in one post the ECM needs to be zeroed out. Is that the same as the reset or something different that would be done by the dealer too? |

Found the answer for the TPS Reset via ECMSpy: Resetting the Throttle Position Sensor The TPS is an electronic sensor which can require resetting periodically. Before tuning your Buell it is important to reset the TPS to ensure accurate results. First select the Gauges screen and connect to the ECM. On the front left of the engine, between the airscoop and the engine is the Idle adjust screw, which simply adjusts the butterfly in the injector to allow air through for tickover. Adjust this screw until the throttle % drops to 0. Keep winding the screw out a bit further and hold the throttle closed with light clockwise pressure on the throttle grip. Select the Functions tab on ECM Spy and select TPS Reset.[1] Wind in the idle adjust screw until the TPS is set to approx 4.6 degrees or 5.1% This should be approximately correct for tick over. That's all there is to resetting the TPS! Start the bike and check tick over is ok, adjust the idle to get a steady tick over. The http://www.ukbeg.com/ forum has reference to where to buy the cable and some folks that may make them I inquired and will post their response. Going this way for a TPS reset is worth the effort. Then I can just get the Race ECM and be done with it. |

There are 2 resets that you may do from time to time, 1 TPS [ you kenw ] 2. AFV adaptive fueling value or some thing like that. that cable may be an issue unless you do tronics, American Sport Bike has the VSDS at about 200$ with your choice PDA / PC |

I have wired up a couple of connectors on the sporty so I think I can do this one too. I found a US site that sells the cable now the issue is the connector. My USB Interface cable for the TC88A for the sporty may work. It has the connector so I asked for the replacement. I have gotten DT-06-6S connectors from the dealer so I think I make be able to get this one from them if we can determine where a 4 pin connector is on the bike. I have looked at the American Sport Bike two products but I am trying to keep the $$$ investment in this bike down for now - basically, trying to keep myself from getting carried away. Thanks for the info on the other reset! I will have to look that one up. |

Just to close out this thread. Much can be found in the Knowledge vault section - OK, OK, I am still learning You can get the cable from mouser.com or mp3car.com. You can get the connector from ebay (search on Deutsch 4 PIN) or you can find it on JPCycles.com. Had I know this I would have ordered from them. |

Does anyone have a suggestion for getting the software installed on pc? I'm having trouble with getting the software to actually open once installed. I have the ECMspy cable and am wondering if there is easier software perhaps than I have. |

Been trying to Learn a little about EFI ... "i" right in coming up with these steps ??? 1) Check the timing to make sure it at FACTORY SPEC'S ... 2) Verify the TPS is set to FACTORY SPEC's ... 3) Pull the CODES and correct those found ... 4) Verify the ECM mapping is correct ... |
