We have a kinda/sorta last Sunday of the month ride that starts out of Glendale each month. We hadn't done it the past couple months with the crappy weather. Probably start at Glendale HD/Buell and go up to Newcomb's Ranch. Been there yet? Newcomb's is the sportbike destination if you're riding the Angeles Crest. No plans set for certain but stay tuned. Every 3rd Sunday of every month, we have the races at Willow Springs. 12 and 13 April will be the AHRMA (American Historic Motorcycle Racing Association) weekend at Willow Springs. You need to come out to see people actually RACING classic and vintage bikes on the road and oval tracks. The season is just starting - also Al at American Sport Bike hosts the SCAB rides. He usually posts them here. They are more south of here than where you are. You would have an hour ride to meet up for the start. |

Where do you live, Rory? If you want to get added to the SCAB mail list, PM me and I'll add you. Al |

Tomorrow we're riding up to Newcomb's Ranch from here (Palmdale) - we usually get a couple folks from the other side of the mountain. We're departing Palmdale about 4, arriving newcomb's about 5-530. |

Very likely Stew Goddard will ride up from the LA area. If you haven't yet met or read about him, he's paralyzed from the waist down and STILL rides. He's rigged a set of electric retractable outriggers. He keeps a wheelchair up at Newcomb's just for these occasions. You have to realize Newcomb's DOES cater to riders! Stew is an awesome character to get to know. I"ve gone riding and scuba diving with him. Nothing he doesn't do if he wants to do it. |

Rock Store is more a destination than a ride. The local area is pretty heavily travelled by motorcycles and the residents are getting pretty PO'd at all the street racers and engine noise - just keep it "legal." The local police are always busy in the area. Rock Store IS a cool place to stop off on a weekend morning for a bite to eat and just to gawk at all the machinery. Almost once a month, Leno shows up in the AM with another of his amazing restorations. If you're talking motorcycles with him, it's very easy to forget WHO he is, he's very knowledgeable about every nut and bolt on the bikes he rides (yeah, he has "staff" to work on them but he KNOWS all about the machines) /image{Leno and us} (Message edited by slaughter on March 21, 2008) |

Not sure why I can't edit and insert a pic - but here's a shot of us at Rock Store. This was before Leno got his Hals-built XB (Ciccotto replica) - the XB had just come out in CA and he was asking all sorts of questions about it. (I had ridden it to the Rock Store - still breaking it in before turning it into a racebike)
