The standard seat on my 05 xb9s has me standing practically on my tippy toes when stopped. I was thinking of getting the low seat for it ($97.00 at the nearest buell dealership...so reasonable)

Does anyone have experience with the low seat? Is it as comfortable as the standard 05 seat? Pros...Cons? thanks in advance!

Mine is an 03 9SL. I thought the seat needed more cushion and too much heat transfer. I put the select seat on mine.

It all depends on your tush.

I had no complaints about mine on rides up to but not exceeding 100 miles.

After 100 miles it started to feel like a board.

On shorter rides I never had a problem.

I had the low seat for 2 years befor i bought the corbin gunfighter. It never gave me real problems even with a few 800 mile days in there. then again i have more cushion than most.

I'm with Metalstorm. Good for around town and March Badness but not very good for rides of any length. My Gunfighter goes on for rides longer than 100 miles or so. The stock seat was OK. The Low seat does help the bike fit me better though. The biggest difference was when I swapped out the Scg suspension with my stock 12S parts. Nice!

they make it a low seat by removing the foam. its haaaaaaaard. especially if you ever sit on a cushy cityX or Uly. however, i need one too : (

i had an XB9SL with the lower suspension and low seat. with that combo, i finally traded someone for their cityX seat (because i still had the lower suspension), and that was comfy!

now i have an XB12S, ratcheted up to the stiffest settings for the previous owner (fixing that soon), and a corbin (which is taller, and wider). so i'm currently looking for a solution as well.

The low seat is brutal on anything over like 50 miles. I tried a CityX seat but I seemed to slide around on it alot. Just got my Select seat this week but unfortunately won't be able to try it until spring but it looks like a good compromise between the other two.

Huge dif between the stock L seat and the Select. I did the same at Ponch, my ass has been thanking me ever since and I also gained about 1" in ride height.

i've actually tried that before (since, for me, it wouldn't be cross-dressing!), but you really cant shift very well in tall heeled boots : (

I switched out my low seat for a regular S seat because it was hard as a board. the S seat is only slightly better, I would try the select seat

my 9S had the regular seat when I bought it. rode with it for a while, then bought a used "low" seat. and honestly i didnt notice a big difference in cushion.
Ive done some long rides on the "low" with no problems! and i'm not a big guy with lots of cushion. What i will say is that, if you are short like me, its not that big of a difference. the seat is still the same width, so your legs have to go out farther, which reduces its effects

This isn't really a low cost option...but my wife 5' 2" had a custom seat made on the low buell pan for her 9sl. We took a 6700 mile, 27 day trip and she never once got a sore butt. Alligator Bob in Chicago did the work. I forget the actual shop name.

Select is the best! long rides or track days that seat is the bomb. Holds you in when the front comes up 2. Only down side is when it rains.

metalstorm is bringing his low seat and will let me try his select seat this weekend - hooray!!!

hopefully, i will be able to touch the ground with select. but worst case, the low should work.

we're also considering a susp swap! : )

Since you're getting that low seat for cheap you could always look into putting a gel insert into it. That might make it a little more tolerable. Just a thought.

I'm really hoping the Select seat will work for Buellgirlie.
I just threw my low seat on for the fun of it and all I can say when compared to the Select is OUCH!
I'd rather see her find a good deal on a select than endure the low.

I never realized that I've been spoiled by that firm yet squishy select goodness : )

For those who are looking at that pic going holy crap it's gotta be at least two inches higher than the low, it squishes down when you sit on it and is about the same as the standard seat if not just a tad taller. Still a bit lower than the CityX seat. Skyline I believe is its name.

Until Buell gives us shorter people a viable and non-posterior-abusing alternative then we just have to suffer though.

Though, if you have your stock seat, regardless of style or model, rebuilt by a good seat builder with decent materials even a Scg seat will be much more bearable. It is a universal rule that factory motorcycle seat suck various appendages and pipe-fittings.

I had the standard, the streetfighter and currently the select seat.

The streetfighter seat was very comfortable compared to the standard and may not be as high as the select seat.

I never rode the low seat but all reports say it is very uncomfortable.

A boot with a thicker sole and heel may be your best compromise to get your feet on the ground.

The streetfighter seat would be a good bet for comfort without raising the height.

The corbin will fit an XB9S just fine.

Buellgirlie forgot to mention that her Corbin is in excellent condition
