Socks! Cool but they do need to be taller. You would think a company entrenched in the Arctic north would have thought of that. Brankin - Love the shots and the road does look cool. Maybe one year I will be able to make to Homecoming. Thanks for showing me the beautiful snow. I enjoy looking at it from this distance. I can enjoy it with out having to deal with it. Heck after two days of cold nights, I know why cars last so much longer down here. My poor old minivan was making groaning noises it usually does not make. Living in a more temperate climate has to help the machinery. |

Went for a ride this afternoon with my brother-in-law on his SuperDuke and another friend of ours on a ZZR600. We took 42 out of Fuquay into Corinth, Corinth rd into Moncure, Moncure-Pittsboro rd to Pittsboro, Silk Hope rd to Liberty, then Old Liberty rd to Asheboro. It's only about 75 miles each way, but it's agreat route: 2-lane the whole way, light traffic, no superslab. The only real twisty section is on Old Liberty rd, but the rest of it is winding/scenic enough to keep you interested. I took this picture on the way back while crossing US1 in Moncure: I'm really digging the Ulysses. Having a bike that's really comfortable makes the straight sections of road not seem so tedious. This was the first time I've had a chance to hit some twisties with it, but it was right at home chasing down the SuperDuke. We even exchanged a few wheelies when leaving stop signs. I'm still getting used to the suspension travel when throwing the bike around. When you flick the bike in quickly it tends to squirm a bit before it settles in. The bike never scared me, it just doesn't feel like it's welded to the road the way the Firebolt did. I think it's just a matter of getting used to riding quickly with less feedback from the front end. More tinkering with the suspension should help. I'm thinking I actually need to back off the pre-load a bit to let the bike settle more and maybe dial in a touch more damping. |

Keep tinkering with the suspension, but I doubt you will get it to feel like the Bolt. The Uly trades comfort for handling, but it still can be settled down. I think after two years, I have finally found a set up I like. I went the other way this weekend. No Seed call me and ask me to ride one of his Dual Sports. We spent the afternoon riding trails, me on his DR-Z400 and he on his wife's XT225. What a blast. |

Funny you should mention that, I was at Team Powersports on Saturday morning and was looking over the XT250 (the 225's replacement). I was thinking about how it looked like it would be a fun street/trail play bike and would be the perfect size for Sarah to use as a first street bike. However, I lack the cash to add more toys right now and Sarah still says she doesn't want to ride on the street. It was fun to think about for a while anyway. |

Spike - I was thinking the same thing. The Zook had power to spare, but I liked the XT for me. It has a lower seat height with the same ground clearance. Maybe next time I will get to ride the Yamaha. I know it doesn't have the oomph the Zook has but its just the kind of trail bike that were around when I was a kid. I figure it would be a great commuter, trail, fun bike that will compliment the Uly. Plus Carlee is getting old enough she can learn on a bike like that off road, then hit the road when she is old enough. |

right now it needs to be jetted, and check for vacuum leaks at the boot and at the intake... hopefully after that it will be ride time |

Picked up my 1125R at Tilley's yesterday and all I have to say is OMG what a machine! It came in while I was out of the country for the holidays. I was surprised to see it is #105. Traded in my XB9S and felt Tilley's gave me a fair deal on the trade in. Rode it back to Charlotte from Statesville after picking it up and when I got home just couldn't bring myself to pull into the driveway. Drove right past my house and put 80 miles on it before I parked it for the first time. My first impressions have been a little bit different than that of others I've read. For example I was expecting to have no engine breaking. Not true. If you expect engine breaking after down shifting and letting out the clutch, then yes it's light and comes in slow. But if you just get out of the throttle without touching the clutch then there is ample engine breaking. I'm amazed at how fluid and smooth this bike is compared to my XB9S. I keep hearing folks talk about vibrations on the 1125R. Yes there is some vibration, but compared to my XB9S it's way less and very mild and subtle. I was a little worried about the gap between the performance of this bike and my riding skills. I no where near had the skills to push the XB9S to it's limits so the thought of the 1125R capabilities had me worried that I was getting in over my head. Bottom line is the 1125R is so smooth and linear that it is much easier to ride than my XB9S. Don't get me wrong, I have to be careful as this bike has so much power and it is deceptively easy to go faster than you plan. I will definitely have to stay cautious and ride conservatively, but the bike is vary manageable and forgiving if you respect it. Next step, get myself to some track days to work on my skills. |

Sweet 1125 goodness! yeah that is my 02 WRX, newest purchase...dailey driver/fun car Yeah I would listed to EZ, I hate to pull the diaphram on the carb to shim the needle but not too much of a hassle. |

Spectrum, Congratulations! Fine bike. The only issues I had with vibes was at high rpms (>7500) through the pegs on one bike at VIR. The other bike I rode did not have the same issue. Enjoy!!! |

Yeah if you go to ACE just look under stainless washers #6 is the size Yeah the WRX shoudl be fun, same power as my old police interceptor but 1000lbs lighter and AWD |

I didn't really get it sideways much at all, but it is super easy to break the rear loose on throttle alone in that stuff. The red clay can be a little hairy as it's hard to tell if it's dry and you can roll right over it or if it's wet and you're going to plow/sink into it. There were a few times where I could feel the front end get a little mushy, you just have to let it wander a bit until you get back onto firm ground. The truth is that most of those trails are dry and relatively even so you can ride down them like a dirt/gravel road. At this point I'm mostly just trying to figure out how much I can get away with. I know if I hit any real mud I'll end up getting stuck. |
