hello from new zealand! i've just bought an 06 uly. it's a great bike (traded my ducati ST4) the rear pirelli diablo it came with seems to be quite "squared off" - i guess from lots of freeway riding, i can feel a flat centre if i run my hand across the profile. now, i've never been much of a tourer, so have no experience with tyre wear like this. the bike seems to be "uncertain" in corners, and "tips in" too quickly (for me) mid corner. does this sound right for tyre wear like this? it was pretty scary. of course i have ordered a set of new tyres (michelin pilot road 2s) but would be keen to hear if the issue sounds like a sqared off tyre. LOVE the bike though, great motor! ken |

Ken, You've described the feeling of cornering with a squared off tire pretty well. It's fairly normal depending on your particular road and riding conditions. Try to find more corners ! |

Ken Yea just what you though and Scott said. Let us know how those pilot roads workout. Joe |

I have one ride on the new Michelin PR-2s, approx. 160 miles.. The front tire definitely turns much easier than the Avon Storms..They did good on the nasty almost muddy gravel roads..it was a cruel break-in for new tires, and on the wet pavement I had no complaints.. |

Hi ken, welcome to the board, good to see another kiwi posting. How much are you paying for the PR-2S? I have been running sync's and paying about $310 for a rear.I have got around 7000kms before replacing. |

My condolences to you guys -- your area is beautiful for riding, but your prices are not. I just ordered a pair of Pirelli Syncs for $240 TOTAL.

AMT has them for that price including shipping. http://www.americanmototire.com/catalog/ I just ordered a set of Distanzia's for about the same price as sync's, just to quench my curiosity (I have no complaints with the Pirellis'). |

I swear by the Scorp Syncs but think I'll try a set of Pilot Road IIs. I ride 90% interstate about 80 miles a day and also tend to square off the rear. The PR II's sound like the perfect tire for me. We'll see, it seems they are back ordered everywhere. |

hi florida lime. no need for condolences. i live here by choice. $400 US for the set fitted is pricey, but i gt to wear them out on some of the best (and less populated) roads in the world. we NZers import a lot of parts privately for better pricing, but for tyres, it's just too much of a PITA. badcat |

Your tip-in may also be due to your riding style. I just ran down Mulholland Dr. in LA and there are a lot of hairpin turns. Needless to say I found myself going on instinct and trying to lean off of the bike. Well that would pull me too much into the turn and I would have to pop up so I wouldn't go flying off the cliff. When I started treating the bike like I was off road it behaved better. I noticed that because you are so high up that you can't lean into turns like you would on a normal sport bike. The bike turns with very little effort and it takes a little getting used to. I only have 5K on my 08 and I love the ride. I am sure a good part of your issues are from the tires but don't get back on and expect the tip-in issue to be gone. |

thanks chris - that's probably sound advice. after owning the ducati ST4, the buell is very different. i already feel my riding style changing riding the buell. regards ken |
