It mounts in the middle of the seat under the cover on top of the padding, directly in the middle of where you sit, with the longer probe attachment sticking straight up.  | ||

Actually it fits in the same place as it does on a '69 VW .......... right by the radiator cap which is behind the Fartler 440 muffler bearings. BTW I'm so fast I can change con rod nuts in a running engine and it will never miss a beat. | ||

Do you need an extra one? I ordered one to many last time I was at the dealership. I also got some extra fork oil for my springer, if any body needs some of that. | ||

FYI: The springer only takes 1.2 gallons of fork oil, I did not need the whole 5 gallon bucket. FYI2: Some guys on sacborg are using the springer fork oil in thier firebolt headlights as a direct replacement for HD synthetic halogen fluid. Im not going to chance it. Im going to stick with my amsoil syn halogen fluid. It works real well. I even use it my blinkers for a little extra glow. (Message edited by barker on January 13, 2008) | ||

You guys kill me. The funny thing is, there are people out there that would believe every word that you write.  And Higg, I wouldn't worry about changing it out. I'm at 20k on my factory pneumatic fluid, and have seen no problems yet. Chad | ||

Birdy When your muffler bearing goes out it is usually caused by low pneumatic fluid. Maybe Sgthigg will loan you some. (Message edited by J.Ramsey on January 14, 2008) | ||

That is no good on the bearing. Those were for the earlier model. Mine has the wide flat flange and the oily self tapping seal. | ||

Jos51700 By odd chance are you working on a Fartler 440? If so they have a new sealed angular contact muffler bearing available for a retrofit. I ride a old X-1 tuber. (Message edited by J.Ramsey on January 15, 2008) | ||

Brits call exhaust hangers muffler bearings. Yea they also call fenders Wings, Trunk lids a Boot and The hood a bonnet. I had a MG years ago and felt the Brits were still mad about that whole war of 1812 deal and taking it out on me. BUT it was a fun little car and I did like it, when it was running right. I will say this. I never met a Brit with a bra on his car!  | ||

Ha ha very funny guys. Some of us really do need to know where the water temp guage goes. If they are worth using they should atleast be mounted properly. I thought this "Bad Web" was for Buellers to help and guide other Buellers ? I guess Knot !!! | ||
