Hey Everyone! I am beginning to build a tool kit and wonder what ya'll have in yours and what do you keep them in? Also, what is your favorite "don't leave home without it" stuff that the rest of us might like to hear about? Thanks! T |

There was. . . and I am sure I have it some place. . . a GREAT summary posted on here a couple years ago. Someone likely can point right to it. |

-Slaughter- Perhaps what you have in a day ride kit vs a 2 week ride trip? |

Slime tire pump and plug kit. I'll call for a tow for anything more. |

Here's mine... originally used on Road King... now it goes with me wherever, Small set of sockets Ratchet handle 3 in extension with spark plug socket on it Exchangeable bit screwdriver and bit set Torx bits and fold up tool(with T27) ball tipped hex allen wrenches channel locks small diagonal cutter three box end wrenches including 10 mm for battery terminals Assorted Ty-raps Bought a Bucket Boss tool roll and it folds up to about 14" long x 5" wide. I try and do routine work with that kit to see if theres anything else I might need. The Uly things I need to add are: 7/8 socket to remove axle spare belt. Calling for help is an option, but nothing wrecks a good day of riding , like sitting around for two hours waiting on a tow truck because you didn't have a ty-rap to hook your shift lever back up. (Ty-raps have lasted much longer than the little heim joints they use on a RK!!) |

Oh, I forgot I added a tire plugger and one of those little air pumps too. Could use an LED headlamp With all of that I can pretty much do anything that I could ever consider doing by the side of the road anyway. |

Easiest way to build your tool kit; look at any maintenance you think you can do on the side of the road. Do the task in your garage and put all the tools in the bag when your done. Go to the local tool store and buy the extra set to put on the bike and leave it on the bike. great reason to give to the wife to buy more tools. Don't over estimate what you think you can do on the side of the road. |

Duct tape, Phillips head and Vice Grips - basically the same as my home kit. John . |

Cell phone charger, beef jerky, and a couple bottles of water. That way you're good to go even if it doesn't break! |

The only things I carry beside the small tool kit that came with my bike are: tire repair kit (plugs at the moment but I should add some strips because they seem to work better for large slashes) small air compressor & tire pressure gauge extra fuses very small multi tool (mainly for the pliers which the stock kit doesn't have) That's it. I've never needed to carry anything else on my bike as she's been extremely reliable. Edit: well damn me! I forgot I was still in the dirty section. Since I don't have a Uly (only the lust for one) I should not have posted in this thread as my situations (pretty much street only) differ greatly from you on/off roaders. My appologies. I haven't run into any situation that the expanded Buell tool kit couldn't handle. Including doing the routine tune-ups required during a cross country road trip. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/321611.html I do carry duct tape, electrical tape and ty-wraps in addition to the kit though. I carry an extra set of plugs too, but just out of paranoia - I've never actually fouled a plug on the Uly. |
