Latest winter mods. Just got the nobbies (mt-60s) and the Touratech bashplate on. The techs washed it so they could work on it, time to go get muddy again  RSS & Bike cage are next.  | ||

Hey CXS...do you plan to ride in snow? I am curious as to what tires would be best for the snow. I'm not planning to ride in snow, but when riding during winter in Colorado there is always a chance to get caught out in the start of a little snow. | ||

Typically the way I clean it is to run through the puddles and get the big chunks of mud off. If you see my bike washed, it is either being serviced, or the Hooter girls are back ;)  | ||

Cityxslicker, I have a question about your bags. You note in your profile that they are Caribou Pelican bags but not the size. Are they 1550s or 1520s? They look smaller than pictures I have seen of the 1550s on a Uly. | ||

They are the 1520s. I had to run a set of fasteners and fender bolts through them to make them work. There really wasnt a good alternative for hard bags at the time that I did it. Now of course H&B has smaller journey bags for the XBs. No regrets, they are durable, rugged and have helped to save the bike from a couple of trail mishaps. (damn gravity sucks) heres a pic of the H&B bags  | ||

Finally got the phone cam to send email, so here is a pic of my bike loaded with H&B Sport Trunk for the top, Caribou Cases left & Right, Buell Tank bag up front, I have more cubic inches of storage than an H-D Ultra !  | ||

Y'know, every time I looked at your bike, it never registered that it was a CityX. (Yeah, I realize that's part of your handle, but hey.) Thought all along that it was a 12SS.  When you take off on your road trip, do stop by at Smoky Mountain H-D/BUELL and say WHAZZZZAAAAAAPPP. I'd like to see that modded bike, maybe take off on a ride witchu if possible. Gonna make it to MBV? Coming from WA? That's be kewl.  | ||

My goal for the trip is to warm up the R.A.N. and coordinate it with the Buell authorized dealer list and set out to visit as many as I can. Kind of like the RV'rs that color in the states as they go. When I get to the east coast, I am going to have the bike shipped to Europe and see if I cant get into Russia with it. No film crew, no support truck, just me, the bike, the network of Buelligans from here and I figure a year minimum. It will be my midlife crisis. | ||

On the Mt-60s on the snow, they work well on hard pack, & light powder. Gotta be careful that there is not a layer of ice underneath as the weight of the bike will sink down to it. "Its called ice and it gets a little Slick" I am looking forward to doing more aggressive spring mudding and winter hard pack. Will try and get some pics and vids. Winterize the bike~ Nah! Who says you cant ride all year ? |
