It's Official! Mark your calendars for Saturday, Sept 6th. This will be an autumn version of the spring "Res Ride". We may take a little different route, but still have all the good curves (plus some new ones) and some Clem's BBQ! This is the Saturday AFTER Labor Day. The ride is based out of my shop in Bellwood, PA - just north of Altoona - exit 41 off of I-99. This will also be a send off ride for XB9er. His National Guard company will be shipping out to the "Sand Box" Sept 19. He'll be gone for a year (or so the gov't says). I told him I'd take good care of his Buell "Jessie", somehow I don't think he believed me because he said he wasn't going to leave the key in it Check in here, PM, or drop my an email at: alumicraft AATT gmail DDOOTT com (i think you can figure that out) if you have any questions The 2 past spring Res Rides have had 20+ riders at each event. With as dry as it has been, the leaves may be changing early this year - could be really pretty! |

Can you give directions to your shop? Sounds like time. Anything special to bring? |

I am 1 mile from I-99 at exit 41, just 8 miles north of Altoona, PA. Coming from the south, you will exit right and come to the end of the exit ramp, turn left and come down to the traffic light at business route 220. There is a Sheetz/Martin's convenience stores at this intersection. From this light, my shop is exactly 1 mile on the left. Shop address: 550 N 5th St Bellwood, PA 16617 If you are using GPS, use 600 N 5th St as your destination, some databases don't have my shop address in them. PLEASE NOTE: My shop is on NORTH 5th street, not EAST 5th street. Probably half of the people that come to my shop make the wrong turn on to East 5th. Nothing special to bring. Just be ready to have a fun time, ride some great roads, and eat some really good BBQ at Clem's. For those of you who have eaten at Clem's, please note that their prices have gone up, sandwich/side/soda is now $9.25, up from $7.25. Still worth it though. The closest gas station is at the traffic light. I prefer getting gas at Martin's as it's 100% gas, not "watered down" with 10% Ethanol like Sheetz. Current price is $3.87 for 93 octane. I'd like to get the ride started around 10:30/11:00 Saturday morning. If anyone else needs any info, please let me know either on here or email. See ya Saturday! Toona |

Is it going to be one longer ride, or a bunch of short loops like in the spring? I did a Clem's run this summer using most of the fine roads you showed me. I waved at the shop as I went by... |

Garry, I'm not sure. Probably depends on who shows. I did see you guys ride by, you should have stopped in for a soda, fridge is open anytime. I have another road that's pretty nice you guys haven't been on yet. It's a little farther out from the shop, so it would be a longer loop than the spring ride. Hopefully the weather will cooperate for Sat. Last time I checked, there was a 70% chance of rain. But I've always said only baseball players and weathermen can be wrong 70% of the time and still keep their jobs. heck, even a baseball player makes the hall of fame if he bats .300 ...... I will post up Friday night around 10:00 if the weather is too bad. |

a quick check on the weather, it's looking better! If you want to check it on your end, go to weather.com and enter 16617 as the zip code. |

So far so good on the weather. TWC is showing a 30% chance of rain, which means I doubt it will rain. Temps in the low 70's. I will post again tonight at 10:00 with a final call. |

TWC is still saying 30% chance of rain. There is a rain front from Cleveland to Columbus to Cincy going in a Northeast direction, if that stays that direction, we should be good. There is another front from Harrisburg, PA to Frederick, MD to Harrisonburg, VA that is coming north. This is the one that would cause us grief, if it makes it this far. For now, I will say IT'S A GO! I'll check again tomorrow at 7:00 a.m. if anything changes. Please post if you are coming, I'd hate to leave without someone. Toona |

The roads are damp from a band of showers that went thru around 5. It's not raining now, but I suspect it may rain again around lunch time. I'll be at the shop and ready to ride for any who venture out. |
