So they called me and said my new bike was in. I put the deposit down in july. I rushed over to Ft. Lauderdale Harley and they told me they had a problem. The fan was not coming on. They called the Daytona store and they had the same problem, but no one had a manual so no one knew how to fix it. I don't know if I really want this bike now. Any other problems???}}} |

Did they have any other details other than "The fan was not coming on?" Like when was it not coming on... Since it's a HD dealer, I would make sure they understand how it should be working before they tell you there is a problem. |

I'm with you on that one Hondaamer. 12 grand is a lot of money to fork out and something is wrong right out of the box. And to think they made us wait like this bike is bullet proof and the best thing since crotchless thong, edible panties. Although, I wonder how could the fan be tested unless they where having one of those Ferris Bueller moments with your classic baby while you were away. |

So... If they don't have a manual how are they sure they're testing the effing fan correctly? Please... Not get a bike because a couple people have a fan that won't come on yet? I'd bet on service personnel error but who knows? |

>>>So... If they don't have a manual how are they sure they're testing the effing fan correctly? You dealer is pulling your leg. Ask them if they have a manual. If they say no, ask why. |

I asked them for the manual but they said they haven't received it yet and neither has their Daytona store. The fan is not coming when the bike warms up. I was there, I rode it and they are right, the fan is not coming on. |

To be honest, (admittedly I was quite distracted with the loud pumping my heart was making) I don't recall the fans running at miller Motorsport week of Labor Day. It was cool then too. Still, we rode them hard, and the bikes never sat long as riders would dis-mount and another would be off on them again. There are two fains by the way, on inside each radiator - engine side. |

The 1125R fans are much quieter than the XB fan; they're hard to hear if the engine is idling. |

Anony, Any chance an 1125R fan would work on an XB? |

Guys the engine was hot--the fans were NOT working. This would have been my 37th bike. The fans were not working period. |

New bike dealer ineptitude story.... Long story very short - was picking up a new Blast from a dealer who had a tech "check out" my bike before I was allowed to ride it home. The service dork said there's a small problem - the bike is hesitating. 1/2 hour goes by, they come back and tell me they can't figure out what's wrong with this bike and they need more time to investigate the hesitation. This happens a couple more times, then.... Hey, it turns out that a bike with less than 1/2 the power you're used probably accelerates with less than 1/2 the vigor you're used to. Effing jackasses. I'm gonna stop now after typing and erasing 3,000 different iterations of what I shouldn't say. -Saro |

With all due respect guys, but does anybody know, either from the manual or any other source what the parameter set point is for temp.in degrees where the fan is supposed to come on and did it IN FACT hit that set point. Seems to be a simple troubleshooting procedure for a bike tech. Many XB fans just do not come on because they have not reached that set point. Feeling that the engine is real hot just might not due it. First things first before denouncing a new anything. |

Prolly just a bad sensor its not a complicated system. And they cant figure it out without a manual. When i was 18 i knew everything ask my dad. If i was still 18 i could just tell you what the problem is but im 35 now and dumb as a rock so your on your own |

heheheh Nice Richard. My favorite bumper sticker: Hire a teenager - QUICK while they know EVERYTHING. You mean those guys couldn't "witch doctor" a FAN?? I don't think Id trust them with an internal combustion engine. Z |

they act like the systems on the bikes are revoltionary and have never been used before, they are not cars with 20+ control modules that communicate via serial communication so the sensor may be good but the info is missing in the data stream because a module is down.im afraid they could not fix a sandwitch without having their hands held.sorry i have no faith in other people fixing my stuff, let alone harley steve w. |

What does 'Hot' mean? Can you tell us what the display was reading the engine coolant temperature as? If it is a higher pressure coolant system fans wont kick on till mid 200's F from my experience. |

When I was riding at Laguna I never had the fan come on once. When the pros had the bikes out and came back on them their fans were all on. I think it takes a bit to need those things to be blowing. |

Reminds me of the time i installed a 4:88 12 bolt posi in.First time i drove it i thought i blew 3rd gear.It got to 3rd by like 20 mph under normal accel. Wouldn't it be funny if in fact the bike is perfectly OK (Message edited by ducxl on December 21, 2007) |

What was the coolant temp when it was HOT?? Coolant temps is all that matters, fans dont work until they are supposed to, and it sounds like your dealer dont know when they are supposed to. |

just checked out the 1125R at Toledo HD. They also had the problem: Fan didn't come on. Took off the fairing and found connector not entirely inserted. Cables are a little tight in that spot... Maybe the same assembly tech? |

On my Suzuki GT750, the first modern water cooled bike, they originally installed a fan. It came on so infrequently that on my 1975 model they quit putting a fan on it. It has never overheated since I've had it. |

Hondaamer, Did they ever fix your bike? What did they find was wrong? We need to know, in case others have the same problem. |

They replaced the fan on mine and had to replace the fan on the one in Daytona. I ended up passing on the bike. I'll keep my 9r another year then look at it again. |

There have been no "bad fans" on 1125Rs. The only issue that has happened on the fan is that a couple of early 1125R's had the fan wires mis-routed such that the wiring connector was in the fan blades. Actually it's quite hard to mis-route the wires into this area, but that is what happened. It may have happened after re-assembly as some of the early production bikes were partially disassembled to thoroughly inspect some other items. The service manual and the build sheets on the line are quite clear how to assemble it properly. |

i don't know about the rest of you. but for me its a rule of thumb is that the first year of production usually has a few bugs. look at our XB's of 03 belts the were inferior and a front blue seal recall. don'tgive on a bike just because it has a problem. even if i had the money i would wait a year to buy the 1125R. doesn't mean they are bad bikes, just new ones. as far as service manuals. i know when i was at the harley dealer before i left to school it took a month or two after having new bikes before we got the manuals and some models took longer than others. i hope everything gets situated. i understand the frustration after months of wait just think of it as a sacrifice to have one of the first 1125's |

Sort of agree. Even if something doesn't fall the level of "bug," next years bike will be better than this years bike. The first year or two will see the most improvements. At the same time, there will be only one summer of 2008. You can wait forever for the perfect bike to come along. I'd love an 08 Uly. I loved riding my 06 Uly to Daytona to watch the XBRR race. I loved riding it to Homecoming. I loved riding it across the US. I'm glad I didn't wait for the 08s and miss all that stuff. |

I was going for a 1125r, but decided I liked a more upright riding position. When the 1125ss comes out I will be first in line. First year or not. |

...and the next year will be different and better. If you want one, you have to make the plunge sooner than later. I hope they create a full fairing before they make it naked. Superbikes should have good aero which means full fairings. Besides, what will happen to the Lightnings? What will happen to the air cooled bikes? |

So yeah, mine FINALLY got dropped off today after about a week of fuss with the dealer over some parts and delivery issues. Took it for about a 30mile ride today (thats all I could manage here in icy cold MN) all I can say is that the rideability is awesome but WAY different then my XB12R, I'm used to just popping the throttle from idle, need allot more R's with the 1125R it seems. But as for the handling...holy crap.. I didn't even adjust the suspension and it was hard to believe how easy I could throw that bike around..not even being used to it for that matter. 1125R is about as nimble as they come id say.
