It is becoming a misconception that you can flash any eeprom data to any ecm that is not the case. You can not flash the stock ecm with the race data (the bike will not run) because different ecm's look for data at different addresses. I keep my knives and fork in the drawer to the right of my kitchen sink but I can't expect to find them in the same place in your kitchen nor will your box of cereal be in the same place. Does that make sense? You could possibly flash the race fuel map in to your ecm but there is no guarantee what you will end up with. Fuel data values go from 0-255 in both ecm's however you don't know if a value of say 180 is treated the same in both ecm's. I think a lot of people run the stock ecm with a drummer but you will have to leave the exhaust valve servo connected, run an emulator, or disable it in the ecm using EcmSpy or similar software. Hope I haven't confused you let me know what you think. Mark |

You can not flash the stock ecm with the race data (the bike will not run) because different ecm's look for data at different addresses. It's no problem to flash a street ECM with the race ECM's data as long as both are of the same type. Race ECMs are CB060 based (XB9 only, MY 2002-2003) or GB231 based (XB9/XB12, MY 2004). I'm pretty sure, all available applications prevent burning a wrong eeprom copy into the ECM (although I could prove this for EcmSpy only). Maps are not bound to a special ECM type (in a technically point of view), so it's possible to burn a wrong map. But, OTOH, people burning maps into an ECM without checking them don't deserve better. Gunter I have used EcmSpy to flash a IB310 eeprom in to a GB231 and EcmSpy did not prevent it, may have been an early version of EcmSpy. As you can imagine it did not work. Tomtower stated he has an 07 Uly which I believe to be a IB310. So he will not be able to flash a race GB231 in to that and expect that to work. Is this not correct? Thank you Gunter I know who you are and you are the dude. Mark |

You are totally right with that. I just wanted to state that the street and race eeproms are interchangable within the same ECM type. It doesn't make any sense IMO, but if people want to ... The old versions, where the ECM type had to be selected manually, did not keep you from burning a wrong copy into the ECM, the new versions do. These work similar to the palm application and autodetect the ECM type. Regards, Gunter |

I'm not deep into the development process of the PC version, so I couldn't even tell which version is up to date. But I would suggest to just wait a bit, the next version is currently in beta test and we are now waiting for feedback from the testers. Regards, Gunter |
