Sadly, on a related note, we mailed out a link to that American Thunder pdf file to all our UKBEG.COM members and a very small number of members objected to the mail as SPAM. We will in future not notify members of new issues of "American Thunder". |

Thanks for posting that link Gordon, very interesting. I'm planning to ship my Uly across this summer for a 6-8 week tour of Europe. My plan is to start in the Eifel and follow the Mosel Valley into France, then to Spain, Italy, then the Alps. The UKBEG event WILL be on my agenda! I did a two week tour of the Alps this past summer and have got to go back!!! I'd like to get on distribution for the UKBEG news letter, how can I do that? |

All are welcome over there! Bit of a side issue and sorry to hijack this thread. One of the complainants I refer to said there was possibly a case that what I'd done (mass unsolicited email to several 000 email addresses) was potentially illegal. We can't take the risk of exposing the volunteers who run UKBEG.COM to the unlikely event of litigation no matter how small the risk. Ironically, the new website we have offers members an option to sign up for a newsletter but most folk don't bother ("NO" is the default setting), so there will be no more emails from UKBEG.COM I'm afraid. Sad really. |

Hiya Steve, It's only spam, and only illegal if it is unsolicited. The fact that they all signed up to UKBEG means it's in no way illegal unless there is an opt out option that you ignored in your recent email? My wife is a solicitor, and I checked this out with her. If you want to be 100% friendly and certain, then post an admin message to every user stating that UKBEG will email users with articles, and unless they opt out they will get these emails (and provide said link/instructions on how to opt out or to sign up). Pathetic really – I feel sorry for you doing all that hard admin work and then getting snippy emails objecting to the frankly world-class publication that is American Thunder. If you let me know who they are I'm happy to knee-cap em for you... Back to topic – great article Hoon – I didn’t realise you’d done all that to the bike in such a short time, thought you’d had the thing for years for some reason? Is that sheeps head there to stay? Or just for ratbike rally's? At least I'll know it if I ever ride past you in London! Cheers bigkuri |

Growl, a few weeks ago I talked to this guy, Warren, about shipping bike to Europe: http://www.worldmotorcycletours.com/ He's a shipping agent and will make arrangement for you independent of his tour service. He told me price in '07 was about $2500/bike(Uly size) for round trip from Florida, Ft Lauderdale I think. About $1K over and about $1.5K return. Many things will factor into the price, including the exchange rate. Bike flies on the same plan as you. Bike drop off at air terminal 24 hours prior to flight, bike strapped to a skid and placed in cargo hold, you go on the same flight. |

Mainstreamer Why not just rent one or something similar when you are over there? I had a friend just got back from the UK,France and other beautiful spots in between. He rented a GSXR for 2 Months actually pretty reasonable. He did ship tires over from here though. I guess rubber is a tad spendy on that side of the world, and they (the bike shops) really tag you for tire (Tyre) wear |
