I'm looking to re-color my translucent blue bodywork with a flat black look and I would like some input from those who have done it. I figure it would be easiest to tackle myself since touch ups would be easier done when the rocks and bugs start flyin!

I am figuring......

1) Mask off the raised lettering and logos and around the X on my CityX.

2) Sand with fine sandpaper?

3) Automotive primer?

4) Automotive flat black paint? Model paint?

The only thing that will stand up to a lot of sun exposure is automotive paint. They actually sell a topcoat with additives to make them semi glossy or flat.

Hill, hey guy, look into the duplicolor line of paints, for something as small as the air box cover they make the spray paint style cans. I my self am getting ready to do a paint job on my xb. I will paint the entire thing, plus extras going on it. You will need fine sand paper to sand, and wet sand with. Duplicolor can be found at your automotives store. they should be able to order what you need, including a clear coat when its all done. That will help keep it protected for a longer period of time. Let us all know how it turns out. Kenetiksoul
