That is a great picture and a great video as well. Cant remember where I read this and am not sure if Im getting it right but it went somthing like this. A preacher and a little boy are just chatting away one day while the little boy's dog is goofing off around them. The preacher says, " As wonderful as dogs are, they do not go to heaven." The little boy says "Tell God that I dont wanna go to heaven when I die. He can just send me where ever he sends the dogs." |

That picture reminds me of a story I have to tell. I was a member of a church at one time, and a woman came in to ask about joining the congregation. The woman was obviously poor with three little kids, and her husband had died. The pastor, who was the classic "Fatherly leader" type was of course being his hearty welcoming style (making sure other members were watching), when one of the woman's children asked if their dog who had died was with their father. The pastor immediately launched into an explanation of why that couldn't be so because dogs have no souls and can't go to heaven. The little girl started crying, the woman kind of quietly moved herself and the children away, and I left the church never to return. I believe in God more than most, but in churches less than many. All the words written can't tell me that dog didn't have more soul than that clergyman. |

Not much in your profile Harv (Imonabuss) but you have spoken volumns my friend. Christian, Muslim, Jew or whatever there are spiritual people and there are SOME that are JUST church goers. Beautiful picture and thought Scott, thanks much. Bob (Message edited by Bob_thompson on December 15, 2007) |

Just goes to show you there are dumbasses everywhere, and that clergy need forgiveness as much (or more) then the rest of us. I left the "small c" church a long time ago, and have little stomach for any strong denominational group. Lots of small vehemently non denominational churchs are popping up everywhere, which is a great thing. |
