IMOO it is one of, if not the best looking bike, on this web site. It's clean, it's striking, and it's unique. If I had the extra coin, it would be mine.
The best part is I bought it last year with 966 ORIGINAL miles on it. Today it has a little over 3k. I just did do some work to it too. V&H pipe, SE coil, Race ignition, bar end mirrors, Tank bib, and I put dual headlights on the front. I was going to chop the windsreen but changed my mind, just incase I ever wanna put it all back. She runs FANTASTIC and takes off like a raped ape! hehe
Heres a crappy cell phone video of here running after I put the pipe on.
You guys have changed my mind. Although, I've been pm'd some pretty impressive offers, I think I'm going to hang on to it for a little while longer. It seems to be more desirable then I had thought. Thanks to everyone though.
I used to have a 98 with thunderstorm heads and to tell ya the truth, I didnt feel any difference. There really wasn't a wow factor in the 10 hp.
From what I've read here....
'96-'98 S1: slim tank/seat, 91 claimed hp @crank '98 S1W: fat tank/slim seat, 101 claimed hp @crank
They both felt the same to me. I have a 99 M2 with TS heads on it and its probably the weight difference, but the lightning headed S1 will smoke the thunderstorm'd M2.
Also, the bike is pretty original and I see more and more of people modifying the crap out of or chopping up the S1's that I think it'll be more desirable in the years to come if I leave it alone. I still have all the stock stuff I took off as well.
