took advantage of the great weather we're having in NC, and went for a 2 hour lunch run.
Since I am not the original owner (and this is my first Buell), i thought i'd ask you guys weather i should have some concerns:

1) Fan + rear cylinder temp. Fan was on almost the whole time today. I know the sensor for the fan goes on at 400 degrees, but what have your experiences been (its around 77 degrees here now. My right leg was very warm : ) . I rarely went above 4500 rpm...just windy country roads

2) Engine likes to race when coming to a stop (with clutch in) is this normal?

Thanks,
jay

77 degrees? YOU B@ST#RD!

Your may need a TPS reset to cure that engine revving.

fan running = normal.

idle hanging when coming to a stop with clutch in = idle set too high.

its normal for them to hang at ~2K RPM if the idle is too high. warm up the bike fully then readjust your idle in VERY small increments until its around ~1050 RPM.

That heat is a normal thing in $#@@ warm weather like you are having. Most of us wear riding pants that are double mesh and resist the heat. If you are wearing jeans it will be hot.

The irratic idle can be from the idle being set too high. Book says 1050, but they seem to work better at 1000 or so. If it is a little too high it will hang at about 2000 rpm then kinda float down to whatever it is set at. The adjuster screw is a allen head screw in front of the front cylinder on the left side.

If that doesn't fix it a TPS reset may be in order.

75* here today!

Lugging the engine will cause it to run hotter as well.

The fan running is the normal mode not the exception. Don't expect to have many instances where the fan isn't running.

TPS may not be the problem. My 12S will hang around 2100 sometimes when stopping at a light. My TPS read fine but my AFV was 118 at idle indicating a possible intake manifold leak. The shop manual has the procedure for determining if you have a leak... looks like I'll be doing the test in the near future.

think i figured out the fan - the left air scoop has been removed (didn't come with the bike) - i'm thinking after reading many threads on the RSS that the left is needed. Will be looking for a replacement...

The left side scoop didnt come with the bike when u bought it? Wonder what the previous owner did with it or why he took it off.
