From a press release by Harley-Davidson: ERIK BUELL WELCOMED AT LARZ ANDERSON AUTO MUSEUM IN MASSACHUSETTS The Larz Anderson Auto Museum in Brookline, Mass. welcomed Erik Buell, sportbike designer, engineer, Chairman and Chief Technical Officer of Buell Motorcycle Company on Friday, January 19, 2007. Erik spoke about his personal design philosophy and the company's unique role as the only sportbike maker in America. Many vintage and new model Buell motorcycles were on display, including a 1989 RR1200 in pristine condition owned by John Sweeney, executive director of the Larz Anderson Museum. Erik Buell's appearance attracted 150 motorcycle enthusiasts and members from various motorcycle clubs to the event, 60 of which attended the VIP reception before the speech. The reception was a casual meet-and-greet session with Erik in which enthusiasts gained Erik's view on racing, Buell motorcycles, and guitars (Erik's other passion, as if creating motorcycles is not enough, is making guitars by hand). Erik Buell's career with Harley-Davidson began in 1979 when he joined the Company as a Junior Test Engineer. He worked in a series of positions including Product Engineer, Project Engineer and Senior Project Engineer until Erik left the Motor Company in 1983 to build his own Buell racing motorcycles. In 1987, he formally incorporated the Buell Motorcycle Company. In 1993, Harley-Davidson acquired 49 percent of Buell Motorcycle Company and by 2003, H-D acquired 100 percent of the Buell Motorcycle Company. As Chairman and Chief Technical Officer, Erik Buell is responsible for the long-term strategic vision for Buell Motorcycle Company as well as all technical issues for that company, ranging from current product engineering support through future product design, and including information services. |

Court, as Erik's friend and confidant do you think that in 2003 Erik has had less influence in how Buell motorcycle company operates and their direction for the future? It does not appear to be the case and I hope not. Would you even elaborate on this forum? Erik listening? Care to opine? I personally really love your current direction. Stay focused as you are. Bob: I think I have the answer but I am not certain I understand your question. Just to make certain we have a dial tone, can you restate it. I apologize for the double post. Court |

I think the question is one of the amount of control Erik has over the direction of BMC and what they do or do not build. If not, that's my question BTW - I had read Erik still had 2% ownership. |

Okay . . . then let's go with that:
- Erik has a GREAT DEAL of control.
- Erik decides not only what Buell will and will not build ( as part of a group ) but is also involved in similar decisions at Harley-Davidson.
- Harley-Davidson owns 1005 of the common stock of Buell Motorcycle Company.

Mikes (Xandersam) got it right Court and I'm glad to hear what you said about Eriks control. As a last question, and thanks for answering, this subject could be iffy to discuss on an open forum,is; do you think Erik has to get FINAL approval from HD corporate for what he wants to do or do they (HD) just want a bottom line from his division. Again I'm just glad for what he HAS done, the direction he HAS gone and thanks to everyone at Buell Motorcycle Co. |

I'd bet it all that Erik has significant control. The name is his. I remember that Larz Anderson thing too.I was very proud to have obtained a sig on my X1 windscreen.I was so shy and Court directed me right towards Erik. A couple people expected me to pepper Erik about a few problems.I'd NEVER had tried to embarass him like that..EVER.Any embarassing questions i'd consider would be put to him on paper first,in order for him to be prepared.Meetings like that are a celebration FIRST anyways and not a forum for humiliation. |

I saw this earlier today and did not have time to respond, I wanted to come back to do so. Everyone at the Larz Anderson event were absolutely wonderful ladies and gentlemen. It was a wonderful evening. I'm eager to get back up that way some time . . . heck . . . I'd even attend for the purpose of being humiliated. I've been to the Boston area twice in conjunction with Buell doings . . once in 1998 and the Larz Anderson gig . . . both time everything was wonderful. Neat place and nice folks . . . by the way . . damn good BBQ too! |

I unfortunately missed that night but won't be making that mistake again! Court, if you have the time and inclination, we are having a BadWeb member host a tour of the USS Constitution in (on?) Boston Harbor either the 8th or 9th of December! Smack_doogle is serving on her and has kindly invited us and our families to a "Buell Family Tour" with promises of a special souvenir! If you or others are interested, look in the "NEBO" and "New Hampshire Thunder" sections of "Storm Fronts" for updates. I do not know how many folks he can accommodate so let him know if you are interested. |

Richards-Gabauer . . . . and it was ugly. 1960-04-17; Richards-Gebauer AFB, MO April 17, 1960; Richards-Gebauer AFB, Missouri. 8:29 p.m. Witnesses: USAF Maj. J.G. Ford and Link representative A. Chapdelaine, using a 48x telescope. One reddish glow made an odd orbit for 2.5 minutes. So after the 2.5 minutes they landed or were shot down and you have since visited with the guests or prisoners? Or is that how you arrived and you didn't like the welcoming party? |
