Caught this guy at a gas station just north of kansas city on his way to atlanta a couple months ago. he was trying to read a map but couldn't quite make out the mileage indicator. not sure if he had been riding too long that his vision was blurry or what. he didn't seem to wanna be bothered much so i let him be on his way... anyways he was riding this new '08 uly, license plate says fairbanks, alaska!

I have done it, it beats ending up out in the middle of now where without a drop of gas (maybe they should put a damn gas gauge on the bikes! the odo trip meter is worthless on gravel/mud/single track)

well they are great mullet magnets, I'll give you that. great cars? hardly. horribly cramped interior, horrible hp/liter, horribly long nose and tail, horribly outdated suspension technology.... I guess I would call most f-bodies a horrible waste. |

mustangs don't even have IRS in a standard car. LS motors are practically bullet proof bottom end. Fords theory is it has to have a super charger. ford needs to grow some balls and build a motor from the factory and STAND BEHIND IT. Chevy has a full warranty small block 427 making 500 horses. i don't see ford doing anything without forced air from the factory. yes superchargers are cool but its cooler when you have a well built motor and can buy an aftermarket charger for 5g's. rather than having to go into a motor to get more of its potential power out. there just happens to be a 6 second street legal camaro with a stock LS block. lately cGM come out with the LSX block. a block for less than 2 grand holding up to 2500 HP. Chevy made 305 HP in 1998 in the standard Z. ford didn't have a standard car with that power until 7 years afterwards. power/liter ford and chevy both suck. all the european cars have v12's with the size of our 8's and 3 times the power. its all rellative to what the comparison. stock to stock entry level to entry level chevy (pontiac as well) wins. as far as the interior and stuff. if you want the best interior or the best ride don't buy a sports car go get a beemer and stop whining. ok so this as far as my discussion goes its in appropiate for this section (Message edited by buellblastrider on November 11, 2007) |

its kind of cool in the concept only wat. i guess it retro nomad kind of thing. but i don't see a factory having a concept with the aftermarket wheels |

sure stock mustang to stock f-body, but I never said anything pro ford or mustang. using your own limitations and going stock to stock, for the same entry fee (msrp) I would much rather own a Mitsu Lancer Evolution IX. not only will it be just as fast on your mulletfest dragstrip but where real performance matters, on the twisties, it will run with cars three times as expensive. also a STi would be much better than the mullet-mobile. and talk about reliability, japan vs america. japan wins hands down. a good friend of a co-worker of mine, Steve, has a evo with 500hp to the wheels and drives it every day!! not only is it fast but comfortable too! ok. rant over. |

This was a crowd puller in the 1980's in South Africa very fast and compete against the big Chevey and Ford v8's |

2005 evo ix rs - $28,500k MSRP 286hp 289ft-lb tq 13.4 in 1/4mi (car and driver) 2005 mustang gt - $25,225k MSRP 300hp 320ft-lb tq 13.5 in 1/4mi (motor trend) add a $4k vortech supercharger to the 'stang and the evo is no longer competitive. I'm just saying...

no longer competitive? ok so add a $4000 warranty void (as buellblastrider mentioned) and you are faster down the front straight but that's all. the evo would more than make up for any horsepower increase on the mustang. what's more, the solid axle stang is gonna love the wheel spin from all that power where the evo will squat and go. I should have a best car under $30K article at home I will have to dig out. they had a stang in it. (sorry there were no obsolete f-bodies) |

I believe the article u mention was a wrx... you may have an argument against the stang there... until you add the supercharger. I just think your 290hp evo handling case against a 400+ hp charged stang is a little harder to make. 5-7lbs of boost is perfectly streetable and will not fry an engine. Whether or not you choose to buy a warranty is up to you. I'd be hard pressed to buy any more than the minimum warranty on a brand-new car. P.S. where's your picture? You'd have to really do alot to a EVO to beat that Stang above but that car was intended for the track..... but streetable. |

In the EVO/WRX/Mustang deliberations... Remember, we are talking a 300hp 4 Cyl engine here against a 300hp 6 cyl engine.. And upgrade the turbo and intercooler on the WRX and a bit of tuning for around 4k, and the competition with the mustang continues. (In straight lines only of course... on a twisty road, the mustang would have a hard time keeping the hp where it belongs) |

I can't believe what I'm reading. Isn't this group supposed to be about the "fun" of driving a vehicle, not the numbers? A WRX is a neat car, and fast and all that - BUT - there's not much more fun than swinging the ass end of an American V8 sport coupe around a corner, tires blazing pouring smoke all over the place. Me? I'll be waiting for the new Camaro convertible. If you could put an orgasm on wheels, it'd be that car. |
