I have a buell xb12x which has the same fuel capacity as the xbrr this leads me to believe the xbrr engine will fit this frame and would solve any registration problems, so I am interested in buying just a engine? if anyone knows of how to get one of these bad ass engines I would be interested in buying one, or I just will buy the new 1125r. but think the uly with the xbrr motor and upgraded suspension would be a bad ass bike along with the other modifications I have planned. You should talk to your DMV first - VIN number on the engine and chassis have to match unless you get some kind of "custom" waiver from them. You're not going to be able to get the engine separately without a racing license - and then, ONLY through a Buell dealer - unless you come across a sweet deal on a complete used RR (riiiiight!) The RR engine alone costs something like $18K and that I believe is DEALER cost (within a thousand dollars either way) Again, I have NO AUTHORITY on any of this, it's just stuff I've heard from folks racing the beasts - one (Glendale/Dixon) on a full-up XBRR and the other (Bartels/Finnerty) on an RR-motored XB12 Also, you CANNOT believe how much money you will have to spend on dyno tuning. Remember, it is only APPROXIMATELY tuned for the high octane LEADED race gas. I guarantee you are looking forward to AT LEAST two days of dyno time AFTER having the motor de-tuned to run pump gas. Believe me, I'd love to find a way to get more of those engines on the street BUT I'd be perfectly satisfied with a bored-out XB9 engine with a re-worked top end and re-worked crank/rods/pistons. Same stroke as the RR, with the lighter internals, could rev almost as quickly... ...yeah, it's NOT an RR but the short stroke/big-bore XB9 motor (properly tuned) can surprise you! I'm just sayin' |
