Here's my problem. In short form, I put my stock rear signals back on the bike.Tested everything with the key ON several times, worked perfectly.
Started bike and turn signal circuit went dead. Fuse is good.Disconnected rear signals, still nothing. All other lights work.
Didn't have another flasher, plugged in a three prong car flasher, blew fuse.
What would cause them to work initially with key on, then puff/gone soon as I start the bike????..Charlie

Try going back to ACC with the stockers installed again. If they work - again - my guess is you have a problem with your ignition switch.

Or...check the wire that feeds power to the circuit for power at ACC and ON. See if the state changes.

Rat,
Everything on the bike works fine: head light, tail light, inst. lites, horn and brake light.Bike starts and runs fine. Just lost the turn signals,I have power to the flasher. I have no continuity on any two terminals at the flasher, I'm hoping that's my problem. But without another flasher to test I'm at a road block....Charlie

If its a stock flasher, I have the one I took off my S1 when I went to LEDs. Only problem is, it's in MD and I'm in FL until Sunday : (

If you need it, just let me know and I can send it out when I get home.

Touch the power wire @ the flasher to the signal light wire, with either side of the signal switch on....the side the switch is ON, should light front and rear signal .
The flasher is just a time delay which makes it flash.....Hb

Onahog,
You nailed it, now all I have to do is go the HD shop and see if they have a flasher for a 2K M2. If I'm lucky a sportster will have the same one, that's the only way they would have one. My local dealer leaves a lot to be desired.
Thanks for the help guys, I appreciate it.Charlie

CC.....I m sure a sporty,or big twin uses the same...Ive got a bunch here...Round ones, sguare ones, plastic ones, metal ones...lol...An auto parts store will have a 2 prong too....Most older autos used 2prong...Auto ones do work as well...
You musta tried a shorted one !!
And ..I believe the 3rd prong on a 3 prong was just for an indicator light.

If an old auto 2 prong flasher will work. You may want to try a heavy duty one for trailers. Instead of an amperage load triggering the flasher, a trailer flasher has a little motor that turns to hit contacts so you can put as many or as little lights as you want!

My X1 has a three prong flasher made by Gilera.
Inside, it has a little circuit board and a relay.
It's not like the old school auto flashers that had a bi-metallic strip that heats up.

I know what's in mine because the mounting tab rattled loose at about 25,000 miles.
I epoxied it "temporarily" for a trip.
The flasher is still there now at 81,000.

Well, new flasher installed(Gilera, same as old one) and I'm good to go.
Still baffles me the way it went out.I'll just have to believe it's one of those electrical gremlins that roam thru our circuits looking for something to munch on............Charlie

Hank,
Took the flasher apart and it was spotless, just a bunch of resisters and such. No sign of any moving parts, unless it was in a little plastic black cube about a 1/2" in diameter.........Charlie

The "little plastic block cube" is a relay.
It does have moving parts.
If you're careful, you can usually pop off the cover and look it over.
Not to fix but just to see it : )
