I see Motorcycle Accessory Warehouse shows a 190 wide 616. http://www.accwhse.com/DUNLOP2.HTM#D616 Has anyone tried one? I wonder if it would even fit on a Uly? Isn't a 180 wide enough? (Message edited by debueller on November 09, 2007) |

Interesting, must be new, as i never seen it in 190 before. I wouldn't touch it as the bike is designed for a 180 and getting a 190 on the same rim will only worsen handling. It is on dunlops site so it isn't some kind of typo http://www.dunlopmotorcycle.com/tirecatalog_tire.a sp?id=93 |

The 616 is a toad of a tire. Actually, Dunlops in general stink. I bought a set of 208s for $150 "because they were cheap" and my Uly handles like a hay cart now. Doesn't want to turn in, stands up under braking, just handles real nasty. Thankfully I have a new set of Pirelli Diablo Stradas on my other wheels and as soon as I burn off the Dunlops (which never last long), I'll be putting a quality tire back on. Then the Uly will be back to it's sweet handling ways. |

The Synch's handle so much better than the 616's, it always surprises me when people say they prefer or even like them. The 616's felt like they were about to slip out from under me in the least lean angle, very unsure feeling. Buell didn't get rid of them because they were a great tire. |

I have the first set of Syncs on the Uly and I love them. The best tire so far on the Uly. The bike rotates like its on a rheostat. I can cut a line and change it with easy and precision. I never liked the feel of the D616 except in rain and in mud. If you are going to spend serious time off pavement, the D616 are the better tire. Even though I hit a little dirt road today, I ride on pavement too much to even consider switching back to the D616 right now. |

FWIW, if you do decide to fit a 190 section on your bike, (indeed any bike designed for a 180 section), then, as long as nothing rubs, the only effect you will feel is slower steering. Best leave it as "god" intended with a 180 section hoop. |

YMMV I got 5000 miles out of my first rear 616. The Sync I'm using right now looks like it'll be gone in 3000. |

I got about 2000 miles out of my 616. Hated the tires so much I dumped the front one too and went to Pirelli Diablo Stradas for long distance riding and standard Diablos for track days and canyon carving (mounted on R rims). If you've not run a set of Diablos on your Ulysses, you're missing just how well the bike will handle. Here's my Ulysses coming out of the chicane at Nashville Superspeedway. No problems with grip here and no nasty swimming either.

the 616's work fabulously for the trails IMO. I don't plan on taking this one to the track. |

I'd venture to guess it's a far better track bike than it is a dirt bike. |
