Anyone know of any aftermaket tail/fender eliminator kits that include a release for the seat? Previous owner ditched his stock undertail and everything with it. Thanks Scott

http://www.britnett.net/trojanhorse/listings/162.html I had this on my X1 (before my bike was stolen), if it's an X1 you got. The aluminum (or aluminIum) is thick enough. There's a hole for the seat keylock and I've no problem rerouting the cable. You will lose some storage as the tray will be flushed with the tail. The photo on the website isn't very detailed but from my experience it's a good and tight fit once installed. I had to file the weld seams a little. The cut outs for the wire routes are sharp enough to cut your wires if you're not careful. I just "painted" mine with some insulators from a hardware store. Toward the tail there isn't much space for your hands to install the turn signals but workable. Hope this helps. Roderick |

I fabricated my own from the information posted on "X1 Files"; took an easy Saturday, and cost almost nothing. Made the first one out of construction paper, and used it as the pattern for the real part out of .032 2024T3 aluminum. Total cost, maybe $10. Pictures available on request. |

Hello Matt, Thanks- that X1 is still my dream bike. I never fail to come away from a ride absolutely impressed! IMHO the X1 was the ultimate tube-frame Buell. I can feel the heat already... I used an aircraft sheet metal shear and a file, with drilled holes at all inside corners to prevent stress cracking. The info is at http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Track/6161/x1fender.html ; I'll be doing pre-Laguna Seca work on the bike tomorrow night, and will take some pictures then. Roger R. |

By the way, I did use a Storz license plate mount. The X1 version included a plate which could be attached with screws to the aluminum tail section- a solution I didn't want to use. http://www.storzperf.com/buell.html I guess this blows my <$10 estimate! RR |
