Did my trackday on Sunday. In prep for it, I pulled the fuse for the lights and also unplugged the connection at the headlights because I had done the city light wire swap mod. Bike ran awesome at the track, but during one lap I did a quick peek at the speedometer and it wasn't moving. I pulled into the pits and while slowing down, I toggled the buttons. No mileage recording either. Clock and Tach work fine though. Got back to my truck and turned the bike off. Let it set a few minutes, started it up and it was working again. Put the bike back together today and now the problem is re-occuring randomly. Here is what happens. Turn key on and all dial needles reset like nothing is wrong. Start bike and everything seems normal until you ride. Everything works except the speedometer and mileage gauges. I noticed tonight, that the headlights also are dimming occasionally. Maybe once a minute for 5-10 seconds. Noticeably dimmer than normal for this time frame. Idle seems to drop or labor for this time frame too. Any ideas what the heck is going on with the bike now? BTW, race pics are here. I'm the Orange bike with orange helmet. Two of us ended up with number 30 somehow so we are on the same picture page. http://www.eventpictures.com/app/event/searchPictu re;jsessionid=2430a4afd87b3e5f774a?eventInstanceId =12642&searchType=2&curPage=1&searchWordCaption=30 |

Tighten your battery connections first, then start looking for a loose ground. I bet the battery cables are loose. |

Ditto on the loose battery connection or a marginal battery. I had the same problem. A new battery and extra washer on the terminal connector eliminated the problem. good luck! |

Connections are tight and I already have them spaced trying to avoid the issues others have had. The voltage reads 12.8 when cold in the morning and 14.4 when running. Doesn't seem to be a charging issue. I was doing some searching and the problem sounds identical to the speed sensor issue on older (pre '04?) bikes except for the dimming light issue. I could have two issues happening or maybe the defective speed sensor is pulling down power? Any one had a speed sensor issue on their Uly yet? |
