I know I'm not the first one to put a lightning top tree and bars on a firebolt, but has anyone modified their support to move it up and back a little so the cut out matches the bars a little better? I did a search but came up empty.

I am actually looking into changing to Lightning handlebars and top tree instead of my "R" bars.

How did you go about doing this? Do you have a list of parts you needed? Or things you needed to modify...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you don't have a repair manual, get one. I use it every time i work on the bike. The top tree and bars are pretty simple bolt-ons but you'll need a lightning front brake line ($22 at the dealer)[here's a plug for Iron Valley H-D in Manheim, Pa] at the very least. I was able to re-route the throttle cables and the wiring just fine. I was able to re-route the clutch cable but it's got quite a bend in it and that's making it a lot stiffer so I'll put a lightning cable on soon. I read your profile and saw that you already changed out your pegs-good move. I'll order lightning pegs when I get the cable. With the higher pegs my knees are a little close to my hands. I rode for around six hours (with two hours worth of stops-eight hours total) last Saturday and only my clutch hand got sore. My next big move is to put a Uly rear half on it so I'll have the storage for trips plus a lot more padding. Someone beat me to it though, there are some pictures of a red Ulybolt floating around on one of the threads. It's sweet. I did notice a difference in the handling. It still handles great but it feels a lot different because you're sitting up a lot more. I'll take a couple pictures and try to post them.
