How has fitment of these cams been - I was told that some slight end clearence may be an issue - is that true? They are advertised as bolt in - anything special I should be looking out for? GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Also what type of pinion gear needs to be used on late model cases with the Andrews cams? Tube frame motors? KK |

i think in 2001 they changed the pitch of the teeth and made them smaller. i installed a set of andrews N8's ordered for my 01 and the cam gears have the older style "big" teeth, and have the finer teeth on the pinion cam gear, so the stock pinion gear can be used. if you replace your cams with an older set of N4 or lightning cams, you will need to replace the pinion gear with one from an earlier model, so the teeth match. the difference between the gears is rather apparent if you have them both in hand. so, bottom line, if you order cams for your 01, you should be able to retain your stock pinion gear. if you pick up a used set for an earlier model(pre-01), you will need to replace your pinion gear. |

N6's and N9's need a bit of work to get things clearanced. N9's need springs, too. |

As Ezblast asked; in particular for the Andrews N8's has anybody actually had clearance problems installing these in a stock motor and how would you check clearance without pulling the heads, using clay and torquing heads. Is there a simpler way? Most builders believe in checking or did you just take a chance? Thanks much, Bob |
