Check out the Buell website. You should be able to find everything you wanted to know about them there. Erik himself even sits down and talks about his bikes and designs.

I would probably focus on the "trilogy of tech" and why those engineering and structural concepts are relevant to the handling of motorcycles.

The difficulty you are going to have is going to be in creating some of the graphics. You can rip come of the images directly from the Buell website.

For other graphics and concepts ideas, you might check this website:

I did my presentation/speech on the history of the VW Beetle.

At one time I saw some links to Buell patents. Maybe the US Patent Office is internet searchable? That would be a good source.

http://www.USPTO.gov (US patent and trademark office)

But much better is Google's patent system:

http://www.google.com/patents

Easy to search for Erik Buell... see all that shows up.

Thanks for the help guys...

I would like to do Trilogy of Tech because to myself and all you guys its like the coolest thing ever...but to a group of regular college students I find the topic a little less appealing...

I think I'm gonna do "Why the Buell XB isn't like other motorcycles"

Any ideas for points to make, slides to create, pictures and diagrams to show, and other ideas?

I did a presentation on Erik Buell and the history of the company for an Invention, Innovation and Entrepreneurship course this past spring. I covered most everything - where he grew up, schooling, career paths, racing, bikes from the RW750 to the XB line. Being at a Polytechnic Institute famed for mechnical engineering, the audience was adept to the features of the chassis and could appreciate what I was talking about.

I had some decent graphics, but I found them all rather easily through image searches. Send me a PM if you want the file for inspiration.
