Joanne and Glenn, i have still have turn-by-turn directions for Oktoberfast in a Word doc. as you'll recall, it's about 150 miles from Lake Isabella to Montecito Lodge via the Bostrom (Hwy 155) and beyond, and about 165 miles if you take the Western Divide Highway and beyond. (both of these figures assume going AROUND the parks to get to the Lodge, like we did for O'fast II and III. it'd be shorter distance-wise, but possibly not time-wise, to go to the Lodge straight up thru the parks, altho this would bypass two very delicious roads, Deer Creek just out of Lemon Cove, and Hwy 245 north from Badger.) my suggestion would be to begin the weekend in Kernville - you've got all the lodging options you need there (as long as rooms are reserved well in advance), as well as food and alcohol within crawling distance, and fuel, all in a beautiful setting fairly centrally located for Buellers north and south, with some very enjoyable riding options to get there from any direction. let us know if we can help from afar. FB&D ps: Dino knows this area well, and i'm sure would be willing to lend a guiding hand... |

Hey FB&D! Good to hear from you! Would love to have the route. We're thinking of a couple different options; don't have time right now to go into detail, but as long as we don't go through Porterville, I'll be happy :-) Jo |

EBear, you've got mail. haven't been taking many pix of late, except for progress pix on the house, but it sure is the time of year around here for seasonal color. get yer butt (and bike) out here, let's go riding, and you can take all the colorful shots you want. hey Jo and Al! will e-mail you the route/s sometime today or tonight. not to worry, Porterville isn't included. Joanne, i was going thru the old Oktoberfast threads, re-living some Pretty Darn Good Times, and ran across a couple of posts from a couple of folks who REALLY seemed to enjoy their time up in the Sierras: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show .cgi?tpc=6817&post=330285#POST330285 http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show .cgi?tpc=6817&post=330492#POST330492 FB&D |
