I pulled my fork tubes the other day to change the oil. When I put them back I slid them into the triple clamps until the c-clamps on the fork tubes made contact with the upper triple clamp. There are almost three of the alignment lines showing above the upper triple clamp. The service manual does not say how many of the fork alignment lines should be showing. The photo in the manual shows a little more than one line showing, but it is hard to see the exact height of the forks. What height should I set the forks to? |

Umm,a gentleman from GMD Computrack once told me not to be obsessed with them both being exact. He stated minor manufacturing differences in length. He stated to cinch the pinch bolts on the fork clamps (trees?) AFTER tightening the axle.If you do it the other way then if the forks aren't of exactly the same length you'd bind the axle. But they'll be close. My XBr shows two FULL lines on the right and just about two on the left.Probably about a difference of .015" |

I have a 2006 XB12Ss. The right is just barely over the 2 line. The left is a little more over the 2 line, probably a 1/16th inch.
