I needed to relocate my tailights on my X1 so I could use my new saddlebags for an upcoming trip. I ordered a pair of micro lights ($20 from dennis kirk) but they caused the turn signals to flash a x2 speed- I guess they did not draw the same as the stock turn signals. They also looked out of place. So I applied that grey matter between my ears and for $4.50 I came up with this.  All I did was to create a 6" extension of the wiring using 18 ga. wire and connectors. Then I used a galvanized fence door handle from ace hardware for the mounting bracket and voila! I now have the clearance for my saddlebags, I am using the stock turnsignals, and they flash at the normal rate. Here is the underside:  | ||

IIRC I had to replace the flasher when I installed Micros to adjust for the hyper-flashing. I've also had to re-wire the rears about 5 times as the Micros' wiring is ridiculously thin. | ||

If anyone else is interested, I searched the KV and have successfully used the Bussman BP232 flasher unit (can be purchased at O'Reilly or Ace Hardware). It's a 2 prong unit for those tuber owners who need one. Otherwise, I think everyone knows that Al at American Sport Bike sells a good 3 pronger. | ||

I use Al's on my S1W now that I've converted to (4) LED signals. Works like a champ and is a sexy blue color to match the trim on the white Lightning, LOL! |
