I do think it is kind of convoluted though to take a bike which is a superb corner carver, albeit not much of a straight line performer, and ruin its cornering ability with an extended swing arm.

+1

For years, motorcycle engineers knew that short wheelbases and radical (XB-like) geometry would have cornering advantages. However, it posed an engineering dilemma in regard to stability. Through many innovative engineering solutions (Fuel in Frame, Underslung Exhaust, Etc, Etc) Erik and team were able solve the stability issues and create the XB which has cornering advantages over other sportbikes...

...Now insert an extended swingarm and undo that cornering advantage. You are left with a bike that is not particularly good in corners or a straight line.

BTW, I know someone with a GSXR1000 with a 9 inch extension and it's lowered 2 inches. He swears that it corners better than it did when stock. Many people are clueless when it comes to suspension mods & can't ride well enough to realize that their 'improvement' made things worse.

No, now you have a bike that competes in certain classes and in Bracket racing which doesn't matter how fast it is...matters how consistent you are. There is also handy caps involved....hell I've see Busa's with a handy cap. A win is a win. Its understanding drag racing. No offense but I don't know if you understand it 100%. Or what type of bike does belong out there and maybe I can find a reason it shouldn't. Hell bring out the Spree and a handy cap and you could still kick a$$.

...or, you're left with a HD-powered drag bike (to compete in certain classes) that weighs considerably less than the alternative - a 570 lbs Sportster.

Why are so many people so narrow minded?

Quote from their site "Milwaukee Iron II delivers what Buell riders have been screaming for; that is,
an extended swing arm that'll put you on a gliding rocket!"

Bads, No offense...I understand drag racing. Actually, I have won a bracket racing trophy (not on a Buell). Not because I am a great drag racer or had the fastest motorcycle, but because my times were consistent.

Why are so many people so narrow minded?

A bit dramatic don't you think. I understand that an extended wheelbase gives an advantage a launch in a drag race. However, most that I have seen will never be anywhere near a drag strip. I was more because it was bling that matched the bandana and flip-flops the kid was wearing. I bought a Buell because I am a function over form guy. Like I said before, "Personally, I can't stand extended swingarms on sportbikes." It's OK if you don't agree with me, really it'
s OK.

Then what are you suppose to put extended swingarm's on .... a Bagger??? Listen,if you understand it then you should realize that a Buell, Ninja 250,... whatever you wanna race doesn't matter.
