quote:The one thing that continues to surprise is Buell's single-disc front brake, which manages to contain all the bike's speed despite the competition's assertion that twin front discs are needed. Mind you, the 1125R's front disc measures 375 mmin diameter (320 mmis more common on twin-disc setups) and is mounted to the perimeter of the front wheel rather than its centre. As well, the single front caliper has eight pistons, a total that equals that in most bike twin-caliper setups. Buell calls the system ZTL. Even the serious racers had few complaints about fading.

$13559 CAD = 12778.91 USD That price is very nice considering it is an imported good there and Deely's gets a cut of every H-D/Buell in Canada. Josh |

Isn't it nice that we get to spend an extra $1000 to $1500 more than the USA for the same bike? We have our greedy government to thank! |

I got a call from a badwebber in Edmonton yesterday, (I don't have his info in front of me) but he says a new 1125R is $13 and change, $600 pdi plus gst, the total anyways comes to $15k. Might be worth driving to Edmonton? Maybe he can chime in here? (Message edited by bake on September 02, 2007) |

I know we've already got US pricing set at our dealer, 12,505 includes freight/prep. Dunno the conversion and I'm about three sheets to since I don't have to go to work tomorrow, LOL. Now, if we can just get the bikes built and shipped....I can't wait....and my wife's tired of my having to wait too! |

12,500 to 13,100 isn't that much (less than 5%)...and I bet you make more than my biweekly insult, too ;) You're welcome to come down here to get one...if I can get my hands on one, I'll fix you up! |

The difference from 12.5 to 13.1 is no big deal it's the 16 we gotta pay, American prices are a bargin! To top it off we can't come down and buy a new bike there, Buell and HD will not allow it. Used with over 7500 miles..... but not new. Thanks for the offer though |

WARNING: the 16k out the door price was the sales geek's guesstimate, in his defense, the price was not set firm yet and they were not expecting to have product until early in the new year. i believe once the bike has passed Canadian DOT no one can prevent us from acquiring a new bike and importing it (service/warranty may cause issues). i was seriously thinking of importing an Aprillia Tuono a few years back and was deterred by the fact that it could not be insured as a road bike until it had passed canadian DOT testing (it didn't get canadian certification until last was year). here is the website for cdn importing http://www.tc.gc.ca/roadsafety/importation/impusae .htm interesting, Buell's up to 2006 only are listed. i know of a few people who head south to buy automobiles. if you do your research and can get the parts required to meet canadian regs the cost differential is quite appealing, one guy @ work saved 15k on a land rover (why buy one of those? i don't know). funny story, it was ordered and a deposit placed here in Calgary, 4 weeks later he went in to check (9 week delivery quoted at time of deposit), found out that they forgot to order it... long story short. he canceled the order in Calgary, hopped onto the interweb, found a comparable vehicle across the border, much cheaper, and with better options, imported it and now has the shiny new vehicle. after conversion, duty and taxes he still was over 8k ahead of the Canadian deal that fell through. i wonder if the age of "free trade" and the possibility of a currency @ par will change things? If the current cartel sees it's bottom line profits disappear as people become wise to the fact that they can import parts and accessories (the golden profit generating pieces) for between 60% to 80% of the Canadian list prices. i know i really don't mind waiting up to a month for customs clearing when i save 40%. duty on auto parts (motorcycle too) is about 8%. my last order (a S1 race header), purchased last summer when the exchange rate was still about 15%, the Canadian price was around $800, if they could find one. I found one while i was waiting for a reply south of the border for under $400usd, $459cdn to my door including tax, shipping and duty. (the header was new, still in the box) fool me once, shame on you... fool me twice shame on me. |

Some bikes are importable but others are not, there is a list on the Registar of Imported Vehicles website. I just happen to be in the middle of importing a BMW GS because of the huge price gap. |
