I bought a set of saddlebags with deep covers off ebay awhile ago, I never really paid them much mind because I haven't had a need for them. I was looking at my '01 S3T bags and it seems the attachement point for the covers is different and they are not interchangeable with the ones I bought. Does anybody know what year they changed them? I am going to look at the situation more closely tomorrow and see if there are parts I could swap. My stock bags are perfect with no cracks. The ebay inners are a little rough, but still salvageable with some light cracking. I'd prefer to use my stock inners and replace the lids as needed. |

If perchance your have deep covers might be from an S2, I would be willing to take them off your hands . . .photos of the latch bits and hinges would help with identification. |

From personal experience - not because I really know the design or part numbers - the change for S3T bags is between '98 and '99. I wondered why the color name changed. I took a chance and bought it anyway. Once I tried to mount it up it became pretty obvious. I think it doesn't take much to retrofit. I happened to have an inner piece that matched the older bag, so I'm getting by for now. The way the three points latch is on the inner is different as well, with the '99 being a more positive latching mechanism. |
