My '06 has just developed a problem after about 6000 flawless miles. When I turn off the ignition key I loose all of the stored info in the instrument panel. The tripometers and the clock loose their stored info and restart whenever I turn it back on. I am about to look into the fly screen for a loose wire/plug.

Has anyone else had this issue?

It's happened to a few of us, and I think each time was a result of chaffing of the wiring harness underneath the fly screen.

I believe there was an updated routing piece, but no recall of any sort. Taking a look under the fly screen (as you are planning) might show you the problem right away.

Loose battery terminal would be an even better place to start. Remove, clean, retorque...

The issue can indeed be the battery terminals but if you do have a break in the loom it may be the same as what I have had. There are in-line splices that are positioned right on the bend of loom where it goes through the headstock loom-guide.
I have had both the instrument back-up power and the R/H blinker feed break at this point.

I repaired both of these myself because the warranty terms for the Buell distributer in Australia don't include loom replacement. As a long-term aircraft avionics guy I trusted my own wiring repairs over the apprentice at my servicing dealer.

In the US I imagine you would be able to get the loom replaced under warranty.

I found a crushed/folded/broken wire in the loom about half way from the plastic loom guide to where the wires go under the tank. It was an extra long wire that was looped around the harness and crushed into it where it crossed a protruding wire.

Also I found two pins in a connector that were green. I don't think it was envy. At that point I pulled all of the connectors and gave them a coat of dielectric grease.
Every thing seems to be working now.
