wrap the straps over the bottom triple clamps. Piece of cake. Don't use Canyon Dancers or others that strap onto the bars. |

Not at all a dumb question. I did not strap down the rear of one of my bikes firmly enough (in my toy hauler) so due to the suspension bouncing, the bike ended up tipping over. Just a mirror busted but still... |

I use these Ancra soft straps above the triple clamps (not on the bar as shown) to attach the tie-downs to.
It keeps the hard parts on the tie-downs well away from the bike and they were cheeeep. Don't attach them to the grips, like my step-brother did on his GSXR1000... |

"It keeps the hard parts on the tie-downs well away from the bike and they were cheeeep" That reminded me of how big of a PITA getting strap buckles through my XBS headlight area was. My advice is to buy those straps and use them through the triple tree |

Some straps (like my ancra "rat pack" straps) have the soft tie loops built in. I didn't realize it when I ordered them, but it is a very nice feature. |

I use Canyon Dancer padded tie down adapters. Much like the ones pictured above, but all one piece and padded. |
