Okay I'm going to do my first fluids change on my 2002 X1 and I can't find an oil filter to replace the one on my bike. After searching the archives on this site I got a list of potential filters. I went to three stores and could only find a K&N HP 3001 and a Bosch 3330. Both were very different from each other. The K&N was way too big and the black Bosch is what I would consider a shorty filter compared to the long black filter that is currently on my bike. I have read in the archives about using a Dyna filter that is long (and I think black). Does anyone have a model # for that filter or one just like it. I would like to put a filter that is just like the one on my bike. I have looked the filter over on my bike, but see no markings or numbers to tell me what it is. So does anyone have a # for the Dyna filter or a long (extra capacity) filter and where could I get it. Between the HD shop (very rude), Advance, and Auto Zone I could only find the (shorty) Bosch and the (wrong) K&N. If anyone could help I would be greatly appreciative or if you can direct me to an archived post that I am missing that would be great. Thanks, Jason |

I don't know the partnumber, but just go to your local HD dealer and ask for the long dyna filter. Long is better for cooling. |

use the K&N HP 3001 I have been running that for over 2 years. There is room... It holds a bit more oil than the dyna filter... and more oil is better... Chase |

You can look here, at the "X1 Files", it gives you several part numbers for different possibilities...scroll down to the oil filter section... http://www.saintjohn.nbcc.nb.ca/marriott/x1/#OilFi lters |

Just go to Walmart and buy a Fram PH8A for a Ford. It has a 8 oz. greater fluid capacity plus it's half the cost! KK |

I just go to the dealer and ask for the long filter - there's only one. You get a choice between black or chrome, though. I have chromophobia, so I get the black one. |

I like the long Dyna filter because it sticks out far enough so you can poke a hole in the end to drain it, and not drip oil on the engine. |
