Currently, BADWEB offers four ways to include images within a board post as follows:

1. Standard pic upload via the \image{text description here} BBS command: This is the easiest method, but limits images to less than 50KB in order to keep a handle on BADWEB's total site size. Generally, scanning photos directly to jpeg format at 70 dpi and 70% quality/compression will yield a good web pic that will fit on the board nicely (420x280 pixels for a 6"x4" photograph) for most computer screen resolutions. The highly recommended image compression program (JPEG Optimizer) available at http://www.xat.com will reduce image file sizes on the order of 50% without any discernable degradation to the quality of the image. It works by compressing the non-detailed areas of images, like blue sky, green grass, etc..). xat.com's jpeg optimizer and image optimizer programs also let you crop extraneous backgrounds thus further reducing your pic file size. Using one of the better compression programs will allow you to post larger pics with excellent quality.

2. Post the URL of an existing web pic: Found a pic somewhere else on the web that you'd like to share? Copy that picture's URL (in MSIE with a PC right click on the pic and select "properties" then highlight URL and right click on it, select "copy" and paste it into your post. Better yet use the \newurl{paste url here, put whatever descriptive text here} command so that the pic will appear in a new window thus allowing simultaneous viewing of your post and the picture.

3. Display an image posted on another page of the BadWeB BBS or ANY web page with the \imagelink{URL of image file here} command: Rather than uploading another copy of a jpeg that is already residing on the BBS, or elsewhere on the web, please use the following tag to help us save precious (expensive) disk space.

First, copy the URL of the existing image.

Find the URL as described above in #2. Paste the URL into the \imagelink{URL of image file} command.

For example, say the URL is "http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/43/3994.jpg" You would include the following within your post:

\imagelink{http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/43/3994.jpg}

with the result as shown below.

BADWEB's BBS works best at 1024x768 or better display resolutions.
