I took the primary cover off, the gasket is obviously metal, I was under the impression that the old gasket that leaked was fiber, should the metal gasket be replaced? The tensioning shoe doesn't look that worn, how do I tell if its the new type or old type? What else should I do while I have the primary off? Thanks... |

You can re-use the metal gasket. The metal plate of the old tensioner is thinner, about 0.15 inch. |

Left is old, right is new.

...or if yours looks like this:
it's the old one. |

Even if you have the metal gasket, it's one-use-only. Get a new one. For $17 or whatever it is, it keeps you from doing the job "again" |
